Design
In my opinion, the design of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is more original and attractive. The design of the camera makes it more futuristic and also more compact than the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, despite the fact that the latter is actually thinner and lighter. The Galaxy S20 Ultra is even more compact, but the design of its camera module is definitely less beautiful.
Display
The most advanced display on offer is the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra: not much of a difference when compared to the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra, but slightly better. Like the Note 20 Ultra, even the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra supports S Pen while the S20 Ultra doesn't. All phones come with a built-in fingerprint scanner, curved edges, and punch-hole design.
Hardware and software
In the European version, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and S20 Ultra run on the same Exynos 990 chipset. But in the US version, the situation is different since the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is powered by Snapdragon 865+, an upgrade to the Snapdragon 865 found in the S20 Ultra.
But in each case, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra wins the hardware comparison thanks to even better chipsets: Exynos 2100 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and S20 Ultra have up to 16GB of RAM, and you get a maximum of 12GB with the Note 20 Ultra.
Camera
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is the worst camera phone due to poor secondary sensors. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is actually better with a 48MP periscope camera with 4x optical zoom and an optional 3D TOF sensor for calculating depth. But the Galaxy S21 Ultra wins over the camera with its 10x optical zoom.
Battery
The Galaxy S21 Ultra offers the longest battery life, followed by the Galaxy S20 Ultra with the same 5000mAh capacity. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra disappoints a bit with its 4500mAh battery. The Galaxy S20 Ultra has faster charging speeds.
Price
While you can find the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra for under € 1000 / $ 900, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and S21 Ultra will cost over € 1000 / $ 900 even if you look at street prices online. We don't recommend the Note 20 Ultra as its battery isn't very satisfying, and the S21 Ultra also supports S Pen.
You can opt for the S20 Ultra if you want to save some money, but you have to say goodbye to the S Pen, the higher performance offered by the S21 Ultra, and 10x optical zoom.
