Chuwi HiPad X review: excellent capabilities of a modern tablet

Nowadays, tablets are becoming an increasingly unprofitable commodity as the mobile market is filled with many smartphones that are as big as tablets in screen size. Regardless, some people still want to buy a new tablet to enjoy watching movies or playing games. Using one of them as an example, I will tell you today - this is Chuwi HiPad X.

The Chuwi brand has long been known for its variety of inexpensive laptops and tablet models. The other day I was able to test one of the latest tablet models. Therefore, in this review, I will share with you my emotions about a budget tablet, and also talk about its main advantages and disadvantages.

First of all, I want to say who will be interested in this tablet. I think this gadget is for kids. Since the screen size of 10,1 inches with the IPS matrix will not give much fatigue to the eyes of your children, at least it seemed to me so when using. In addition, the device got good performance thanks to the processor MediaTek Helio P60 and graphics accelerator Mali G72 MP3.

Unpacking and packaging

The tablet comes in a package that is quite familiar to the Chuwi brand. This is ordinary cardboard, on which there is no image or drawing of the device on the outside, but only the name of the model and company.

Everything inside the package is packed with high quality and no questions asked. That is, I had no problems with transportation. In terms of configuration, everything is standard - this is the tablet itself, an adapter for charging with a European plug, a Type-C power cable, documentation.

In addition, you can optionally order a keyboard and stylus. These are convenient accessories, but you have to pay for them, if you have a limited budget, you can do without them. Now I propose to talk about the appearance of the device and from what materials it is assembled.

Design, build quality and materials

The exterior of Chuwi HiPad X has received a very good design, and you might think that the tablet is a gaming one. In fact, this is not the case, and I will talk about its characteristics a little later. As for the materials used, the back surface is completely made of aluminum alloy. You can also see an interesting drawing reminiscent of gaming laptops. But I want to note that the top is plastic, which is responsible for the best quality of the 4G network signal reception.

There are no complaints about the build quality, each element is assembled well and without questions. In addition, it will not be difficult to hold the tablet in your hands for a long time, since the weight of the device does not exceed 550 grams.

In terms of size, the HiPad X measures 253x163x9,5 mm. This is a very thin tablet by modern standards. It is convenient to watch videos and play various games on it. Believe me, I have not experienced such a feeling from a mobile device when using this tablet.

Now let's go through the main external relations, as there are a lot of them here. As I mentioned, there is an additional connection for an external keyboard at the bottom of the tablet. I don't have it on the test, but it's not difficult to buy it separately. I think the additional keyboard will come in handy for typing and other tasks.

On the left side of the Chuwi HiPad X is the Type-C port, 3,5mm audio jack and SIM slot. This is a hybrid slot that supports two nano SIM cards or one nano SIM card and a microSD card. But on top there is a volume rocker, a power button, and a main microphone for video calls or phone calls.

In addition, there are front and rear cameras with 5 and 8 megapixels respectively on the front and back panels. The picture quality is not the best. Even when compared with modern budget smartphones, the picture quality will be better. I think the camera is used here for video calls and conferences. And even using it in everyday life is not comfortable.

Apart from the main camera, there is another speaker on the back of the device. Yes, you might think that there are dual speakers, but in reality it is not. The sound goes through the left speaker grill and the right one is just for symmetry. As for the sound quality, it is problematic to call it qualitative. There is practically no bass, and preference is given to high frequencies, but there is enough volume reserve for everyday use.

Screen and image quality

On the front of the Chuwi HiPad X tablet is a large 10,1-inch IPS LCD screen with full HD resolution or 1920 × 1200 pixels. First, it's not the worst screen I've tested on a tablet. The device received good touch responsiveness.

Chuwi HiPad X Review: Screen and Image Quality

But what is disappointing is the large bezels around the screen. This tablet model was introduced in 2020 and with such bezels the tablet looks outdated. But aside from the large bezels, the image quality is pretty good. For example, the colors have a bright hue, the viewing angles are large, and I also liked the contrast.

What I didn’t like about the screen was the lack of an oleophobic coating and not the highest screen brightness. Therefore, using this tablet outdoors will not be comfortable. Therefore, its main application will be various premises, for example, your home or some cafe.

Performance, benchmarks and OS

Recently, I was able to test budget modern smartphones that have good performance thanks to the MediaTek Helio P60 chipset. The same chipset was installed on the Chuwi HiPad X.

The Helio P60 processor is not one of the new ones, but it is still in high demand and popularity. It received 12-nanometer technology and has 8 cores with a maximum frequency of 1,8 GHz. Where are the four main ARM Cortex-A73 cores and the four energy efficient ARM Cortex-A53.

In addition, the processor works in conjunction with a good graphics accelerator Mali G72 MP3. Therefore, there were no problems with gaming capabilities. Even heavy and demanding games run without problems. For example, I ran games such as Asphalt 9 and PUBG Mobile, it was very comfortable to play, but, of course, at medium graphics settings.

Let's take a look at the test results. The most popular test for any smart device is AnTuTu, and here the tablet scored 158000 points. This is a good indicator of its value. As for the Geekbench 5 test, the device scored 279 points in the single-core test, and 1312 points in the multi-core test. In 3DMark, the tablet scored 508 in the Wild Life test. You can see all the results below in the album.

Another feature of the Chuwi HiPad X is the use of 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The internal memory isn't the worst as the read speed was around 500 MB / s and the write speed was 300 MB / s. And the RAM is enough for use in everyday life. Multitasking allows you to open a large number of applications, and in doing so, I did not find any freezes or lags.

Now I think it's worth talking about the user interface and its functions. Chuwi HiPad X is based on Android version 10. This is a global version of the device, so many languages are available out of the box, including English, German, Spanish, Russian and others.

Chuwi HiPad X Review: Performance, Benchmarks and OS

The user interface itself works fast and flawlessly. During use, I did not find a strong delay and no application opened quickly. Since this is a global version of the tablet, you will already have Google apps preinstalled out of the box, such as YouTube, Play Store and others.

Also worth noting is the wireless connection. The tablet uses dual-band Wi-Fi and has Bluetooth version 4.2. In addition, it is worth noting the presence of a GPS module and OTG support. But the most important feature is the presence of a 4G LTE network with B1 / B2 / B3 / B4 / B5 / B7 / B8 / 17 / B20 / 28 / B38 / B41 networks. In my test, the signal quality was stable and the presence of 4G Internet anywhere in the city is only a positive thing.

Battery and running time

Inside the case, the Chuwi HiPad X uses a large 7000mAh battery. It's a massive battery that lasts for several working days even with heavy use.

Chuwi HiPad X Review: Battery and Runtime

For example, in my tests, watching a YouTube video in one hour drained the device by only 7%. This is a very solid indicator. In addition, I used the tablet aggressively, that is, I ran a series of tests, played heavy games and even used video calls, and at the end of the day I still had about 20% battery level.

If the battery life is positive, the charging time will be short. For example, to charge from 10 to 100%, I had to spend about 3 hours of my time.

Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons

The Chuwi HiPad X is not the worst tablet I've tested. Of course, it is difficult to call it ideal, but there are clearly more positive aspects in it than negative ones.

Chuwi HiPad X Review: Conclusion, Reviews, Pros and Cons

For example, one of the strengths I can point out is the large 10,1-inch screen with vibrant and rich colors. Also I was not disappointed with the performance tests and performance tests.

The memory capacity is sufficient for everyday use, not only for games, but also for small jobs such as Word, Excel and others. Besides, another strong point of this tablet is its battery life.

Chuwi HiPad X Review: Conclusion, Reviews, Pros and Cons

It will also be important for many people to get a 4G network in order to make phone or video calls anywhere in the city via mobile internet.

But there are also disadvantages - this is not the maximum screen brightness, not the best sound quality, as well as slow charging due to the power adapter with a capacity of only 10 watts.

Price and where to buy cheaper?

If you are interested in buying the Chuwi HiPad X, then I can leave the link with the best and lowest offer for only $ 199,99.

I can definitely recommend this tablet for purchase, since the price tag is very pleasant and insignificant. But the disadvantages are not so critical, given their positive aspects.
