Design
Apple iPad 10.2 doesn't have the best design. It has a very dated design, unlike the latest iPad Pro, with thick bezels around the display and Touch ID. The Huawei MatePad 5G is the most stunning of them all because it has very narrow bezels around the display and an all-metal one-piece body with excellent build quality.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is the thinnest tablet of the trio, and it also has narrow bezels, but is made from cheaper materials and has thicker bezels than the Huawei MatePad 5G. This is why the MatePad 5G wins the design comparison.
Display
The most advanced display in iPad 10.2. It not only has a higher resolution, but also provides a higher overall image quality. The iPad 10.2 has an aspect ratio of 4: 3, which is actually better for reading, web browsing, and pictures.
On the other hand, the 5: 3 aspect ratio of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 and Huawei MatePad 5G is better for video playback. With iPad 10.2 8th generation, you also get a higher level of brightness. Note that the 8th Gen iPad and Huawei MatePad 5G support a stylus for inking and drawing, while the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 does not.
Hardware / software
The best tablet in terms of performance is the iPad 10.2 because it has a more powerful processor: the Apple A13 Bionic, which you can find in the iPhone Xs series. The tablet has high performance and an even better optimized operating system. iPad OS also beats Android in performance with its advanced features.
For these reasons, the 10.2th Gen iPad 8 wins in both hardware and software comparison. But some people may prefer Android iOS because of the more personalization options. Please note that only Huawei MatePad 5G supports 5G.
Camera
When choosing an inexpensive tablet, you shouldn't focus so much on cameras because you won't get good quality photos. These tablets are more or less the same level with 8MP rear cameras and nothing fancy. Sufficient photo quality can only be obtained for emergency shots, nothing more.
When it comes to selfies, the Huawei MatePad 5G wins with its 8MP front camera. Instead, if we're talking about rear cameras, the 10.2th Gen iPad 8 is actually more convincing.
Battery
The 8th Gen iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab A7, and Huawei MatePad 5G have satisfactory batteries that last two days with moderate use. We still can't tell you which one works more on a single charge, because until now no one has had the opportunity to thoroughly test them all.
An important detail is the support for 22,5W fast charging on the Huawei MatePad 5G, which makes charging much faster. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 should have a shorter battery life than the Huawei MatePad 5G if you disable 5G on the MatePad 5G.
Price
The 10.2th Gen iPad 8 costs € 370 / $ 430, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is only € 240 / $ 280, and the Huawei MatePad 5G is € 400 / $ 465. Excluding support for 5G, the 10.2th Gen iPad 8 wins the comparison with more advanced hardware, a better display, and a more interesting operating system, at least for performance. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 is the loser, but it has the best value for money.
