Ulefone Armor 10 review: the first rugged 5G smartphone

Ulefone is one of those companies that make quality rugged smartphones. Today I am testing the latest rugged device called Ulefone Armor 10 5G.

In this review, I'll share my impression of the performance, run a series of benchmarks, and show some sample photos. Therefore, if you want to know the main pros and cons, as well as ask a question, do you need such a smartphone? Then you can find out about it all from this full review.

A little about the price, as most of the flagship devices with 5G network support are priced over $ 500. In the case of the new Ulefone Armor 10 5G model, the price will be slightly lower, namely $ 400.

For this price, you get a fully rugged smartphone that's water, shock and drop resistant. In addition, the device has received a modern and efficient Dimensity 800 chipset from MediaTek. Of course, there is a 64MP main camera and a large 5800mAh battery.

So, I propose to start my full and in-depth review. The first thing I want to know is packaging, so let's talk about unpacking.

Unpacking and packaging

Like the entire Armor line of rugged smartphones, the new generation of Armor 10 received the same bright packaging. The box is a standard size and is yellow. And on the front side there is only the name of the company, the model and its main characteristics.

On the back of the box there are badges with the main technical characteristics. These are IP68 / IP69K protection, 6,67 inches Full HD screen and others. I will tell you more about all the functions below.

Inside the box is the smartphone itself in a protected cellophane film. Also in a separate envelope there is a protective glass for the screen, a set of documentation and a needle for the SIM tray. At the very bottom of the package is the 15W power adapter, Type-C to 3,5mm adapter, and Type-C power cable.

I really liked the package bundle, I was very pleased with the presence of protected glass, and recently its presence is a common thing for Ulefone.

Design, build quality and materials

It's hard to find a rugged smartphone that's light and thin. It's the same with the Ulefone Armor 10 5G model. It is a large smartphone, measuring 176,5 x 82,8 x 14,55 mm and weighing about 335 grams.

Naturally, using such a smartphone will not be very convenient. But do not do everything you can to protect the case from drops, water or even dust. The new flagship smartphone uses standard IP68 / IP69K protection.

The build quality is at an ideal level, nothing will hold together, it emits extraneous sounds. According to the materials, the Armor 10 received a metal case with protected rubber both on the back panel and on the side ends. Thus, in the event of a fall, the smartphone will definitely survive.

The back panel of the smartphone has received several interesting solutions. For example, the main camera is located in the upper left corner with an LED flash. In the central part is the fingerprint scanner, here you can see the 5G logo and the company name.

On the front of the device is a large 6,67-inch IPS screen with Full HD or 2400 x 1080 pixels. This is a decent screen that shows very bright colors and high contrast.

But the bezels around the screen are quite large, although I have yet to see any rugged smartphone with minimal bezels. In general, I liked the quality of the screen, it has realistic colors, good touch control.

The power button and volume rocker on the right side got the standard location. At the same time, on the left side there is a customizable button, which you can customize for yourself, and a slot for SIM cards and memory cards.

At the bottom there is a USB Type-C charging port protected by a cover. There is a microphone hole nearby.

Yes, I forgot to tell you about the speaker, it is located on the back of the smartphone at the bottom. Of course, this is not the best place, but the speaker is loud and has good sound quality. But here I was disappointed by the lack of a headphone jack. Therefore, the manufacturer included an adapter from Type-C to 3,5 mm audio jack in the kit.

Performance, games, benchmarks and OS

To get 5G network support, you will also need a near-flagship processor. Therefore, the MediaTek Dimensity 800 chipset was installed on the Ulefone Armor 10, which has a maximum core frequency of 2,0 GHz.

Also, I liked the test results. For example, in the AnTuTu test, the smartphone scored just over 300 thousand points. You can also see the album below with other tests on Armor 10.

In terms of gaming capabilities, the device uses a good graphics accelerator Arm Mali-G57. I'm not a very crazy gamer, but after half an hour of gaming, the smartphone practically did not heat up. But the performance is sufficient even for very demanding games at high graphics settings.

The storage is very good too, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Even if the built-in memory seems small to you, you can easily expand it with a memory card up to 2 TB.

It's not too bad in wireless mode either. For example, the smartphone has dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and even support for fast GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo.

Like all rugged smartphones, Ulefone Armor 10 runs on Android 10. I can't say it's a completely clean operating system. Since it has its own interesting user interface.

I have no harsh comments on his work. For example, Google apps are already preinstalled here. In addition, even a complex game or program opens very quickly.

Camera and sample photos

On the back of the Ulefone Armor 10 smartphone, a very interesting main module is installed, which received a resolution of 64 megapixels with an aperture of f / 1.89. The picture quality is good both day and night.

The second module already has a resolution of 8 megapixels and is used for ultra-wide images. Overall, I also liked the 118-degree wide-angle photos.

The third and fourth sensors are for macro and bokeh modes. They got 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel resolution, respectively. Macro mode works from a distance of 4 cm, but the photo quality is not very attractive. Portrait mode works well, I have no comments on it.

A 16MP front-facing camera has been installed on the front of the device. Shows good results, selfies are quite bright and saturated.

Video recording on the main camera has a maximum resolution of 4K, and on the front camera - 1080p.

Battery and running time

Almost every Rugged Smartphone has a good battery capacity and the Ulefone Armor 10 is no exception. For example, a 5800 mAh battery is installed inside the case.

Ulefone Armor 10: Battery and Runtime

After several days of active use, the device was discharged in 1,5 days of operation. During this I ran a series of tests - running various performance tests, playing games, taking photos and filming videos. Of course, you can safely achieve the result in 2-3 days.

But it will take you a long time to charge. The smartphone supports fast charging with a 15W power adapter. It is not the most powerful, so it will take you about 2,5 hours to charge.

Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons

Ulefone Armor 10 5G is an amazing rugged smartphone with a powerful processor and a decent amount of internal storage.

Ulefone Armor 10 review: the first rugged 5G smartphone

On the positive side, I can attribute this to a fully protected case from water, drops and dust. Also, the device has a large high-quality screen with bright and saturated colors. High performance with a new processor. And the quality of the photos is also good. In addition, I can't say anything bad about the battery life from one charge.

But it was not without its drawbacks - it is not the most compact body and weight, so at first it was a little inconvenient for me to use it. In addition, the battery charging time is not the fastest, and I see no point in macro photography.

Price and where to buy cheaper?

You can order a smartphone right now Ulefone Armor 10 5G at a tempting price for only $ 399,99... But I note that the price tag will continue to grow further.

So, if you've always wanted a rugged gaming smartphone, the Armor 10 is a good choice.
