Design
The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a slightly more attractive design than the Note 9 and 9S, because on its back you can find a smaller camera module. The handset has a glass back wall in two parts with different shades. The Note 9S comes immediately after it with a glass back and the same screen-to-body ratio as the Note 9 Pro.
Note 9 has a clearly uglier back, which includes a fingerprint scanner (the fingerprint scanner is mounted on the side wall on two other options) and thicker frames around the display, but it is more compact because its screen has a smaller diagonal.
Display
Redmi Note 9S and 9 Pro have the same display panel: IPS screen with a diagonal of 6,67 inches and a resolution of Full HD +. Nothing special, but enough for a mid-range phone. Note 9 has a smaller diagonal, but the display offers the same specifications.
In each case, you get an average IPS and Full HD + display with a standard refresh rate. If you are looking for high quality in terms of display or smoother user experience, you should choose another.
Features and software
Redmi Note 9S and Note 9 Pro offer better hardware. Both are powered by the Snapdragon 720G SoC, which is the preferred choice over the Helio G85 of Note 9. They offer up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal UFS 2.1 memory.
Note 9 matches the Helio G85 with a maximum of 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. Given that these are three variants of the same line, it is obvious that you get the same operating system: Android 10, configured MIUI 11.
Camera
The main difference between the Redmi Note 9 series and the camera. On the back you will get a different camera setting depending on which handset you have selected. The most advanced is the Note 9 Pro, which boasts the best 64-megapixel main sensor, an ultra-wide 8 megapixel lens, a 5 megapixel macro camera and a 2 megapixel depth sensor.
Note 9S has the same secondary sensors, but the primary lens is a 48MP lower sensor. The front camera is the same with a resolution of 16 megapixels. Note 9 has the same rear-camera setup as the Note 9S, with the exception of the 2MP macro sensor. It also features a 13 megapixel selfie camera.
Battery
With exactly the same battery capacity, you would get the same battery life with the entire line. And this is an amazing battery life, given the capacity of 5020 mAh. It is expected that Redmi Note 9 will fail before the other two options due to the less efficient chipset built with a 12 nm manufacturing process versus 8 nm.
On the other hand, Note 9 can also be used as a power source thanks to 9W reverse charging technology. Note 9 Pro wins when it comes to charging speed, thanks to a power of 30 watts.
Price
Redmi Note 9 starts at 180 Euro / 200 US dollars, Note 9S has a starting price of 219 Euro / 243 US dollars, and Note 9 Pro costs 250 Euro / 277 US dollars in the basic version. If you don’t need a camera at all and don’t need the fastest charging technology, Note 9S will provide you with everything you need.
Otherwise, upgrade to Redmi Note 9 Pro. Note 9 has less impressive equipment and a camera than both of its competitors, this is a good option only if you want to save the most money.
