Microsoft Expands Android Testing Program In Windows 11

Last week Microsoft has expanded the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) testing program that is present in Windows 11 and allows you to run Android applications on your computer. Whereas, this feature was previously available to Windows Insiders in the beta channel; It is now available to insiders on the Dev channel.

As the WSA is currently in its early stages of testing; users have only 50 Android apps that they can download to their computer from the Amazon app store. At least for now, Amazon is the main source of mobile apps for Windows 11 PCs; however, it is possible that in the future there will be support for other platforms involved in the distribution of digital content for devices based on Android. We also expect more testing apps to be available to users in the coming months. Please note that with sufficient skill, users can install Android apps by unpacking the APK files.

As a reminder, Windows 11 WSA does not support running Android applications that require Google Mobile Services to run. Regardless, the enthusiast managed to install the Play Store on a Windows 11 computer; which actually made any Android app available. It is possible that in the future, support for the Play Store will be officially implemented.
