Upcoming OnePlus Phones May Work With OPPO ColorOS In China

OnePlus devices in China have Chinese version OXYGEN, which is called HydrogenOS... It looks like this will not happen in the future, as the XDA report saysthat in the future the company may switch to OPPO coloros.

HydrogenOS

According to the report, a senior XDA member hikari_calyx found an ad in the official group OnePlus QQ. The screenshot shows that the official HydrogenOS website will close on March 24, which is the launch date for the OnePlus 9 series in China.

In any case, the announcement also states that HydrogenOS OTA servers will be closed on April 1st. If true, the company will stop developing HydrogenOS after so many years. Plus, OPPO and OnePlus aren't all that different from each other.

Most of the shares of OnePlus and OPPO are owned by Oujia Holdings Ltd. (OPlus) and Pete Lau has been Senior Vice President of OPlus since August 2020. Then OnePlus confirmed that he would also be the CEO of the company.

In addition, the company merged its R&D department with OPPO back in January 2021, but said the software's features would be unique. Going back to now, the purported announcement says OnePlus devices will migrate to OPPO ColorOS and be sold through the store OPPO China.

Before OnePlus could confirm this news as true / false, forums in China circulated this information, and the reaction ambiguous... While this is happening, a OnePlus rep has confirmed to XDA that OnePlus devices will continue to run OxygenOS globally.

Few users also say that OnePlus may unveil this news in the series OnePlus 9, and the OS can be installed on the device out of the box. However, these are preliminary assumptions, and let's wait for official information in the coming days.
