According to TheElecA report from UBI Research showed that China's TCL will lead the development of MiniLED TVs, although industry giants such as Samsung and LG will lead the market. The report also added that after 2024, MiniLED TVs would significantly overtake OLED TVs in market share. For those who don't know, MiniLED TVs are an LCD panel (liquid crystal display) that uses micrometer-sized LEDs as backlight along with the addition of quantum dot film.

This results in an increased color gamut as well as dynamic range advantages over traditional LCD TVs currently available on the market. These TVs can also have up to 3000 local dimming zones, which increases the overall panel contrast ratio as well as reduces ghosting. According to a report from UBI Research, a MiniLED display must have as many local dimming zones as there are pixels to match the performance of an OLED panel. However, downsizing the LEDs will only allow 1000 to 3000 dimming zones.

The report also states that around 2,5 million MiniLED TVs will be shipped this year. Notably, the technology behind this technology is expensive, with each MiniLED costing between $ 250 and $ 1100 for a 65-inch panel. This means that an average MiniLED TV can cost anywhere from $ 1500 to $ 6000, depending on the size and number of dimming zones the company offers.
