Most Windows laptops nowadays take some time to wake up from hibernation. With Instant On, as the name suggests, the company aims to offer an experience in which the system restarts as soon as the lid is opened.

Another addition is the Always Connected feature, which will allow apps to run in the background even when you sleep. This will be useful for applications such as email, allowing you to receive email messages in the background. Most Windows Store apps are considered compatible with this feature.
