While we have reported on previous rumors that indicated a possible delay in the series Apple iPhone 12it looks like a well-known chip manufacturer, Qualcommmay have just confirmed reports.
Earlier this week, Qualcomm shared its third quarter 2020 financials as well as some of its expectations for the next quarter, according to the report. 9to5Mac... Here, the chip giant revealed that it expects an impact on Q4 shipments due to a delay in the launch of a certain 5G flagship smartphone. Additionally, Qualcomm's CFO Akash Palkhivala said some of its 5G chips, which were due to ship in September, have been delayed until the end of this year.
While Qualcomm has refrained from directly mentioning any names, Apple appears to be the company in question. Rather, Apple is the only company known to have traditionally released the iPhone in September. The company is currently planning to release 4 new iPhone models this year, all of which support 5G networking. However, various complications caused by the Coronavirus pandemic may have delayed the launch until late October, possibly even early November.
