Samsung Exynos 850 - the new 8-nm chipset for budget smartphones

 

Samsung is one of the few smartphone manufacturers capable of building their own chipsets. Earlier this week, the company announced the Exynos 880 with a built-in 5G modem for mid-range mobile phones. Now he has quietly posted a chip called the Exynos 850 on his website for budget phones. The first smartphone to use this SoC is the Galaxy A21s, which was announced a few days ago.

The new Exynos 850 is an 8nm chip consisting of an eight-core processor consisting of ARM Cortex-A55 cores that operate at a clock frequency of 2,0 GHz. Whereas the graphics functions are performed by the ARM Mali-G52 GPU.

 

In terms of hardware compatibility, this chip can support up to FHD + (2520 x 1080 pixels) display, LPDDR4x RAM, and eMMC 5.1 storage. Speaking of cameras, it can support up to a 16MP camera with a 5MP camera, or up to a 21,7MP camera (as well as for the front), 60-frame FHD video recording, and video codecs such as HEVC (H. 265), H.264, and VP8.

 

Finally, for connecting, the chipset supports Cat.7 LTE DL (downlink), Cat.13 UL (uplink), WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, FM radio and GNSS, such as GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou. and Galileo.

 

The Exynos 850 nm chipset is currently mass-produced, and so we can expect it to provide a lower budget Samsung Galaxy A and M series phones.
