Back in March 2020 nubian released the Red Magic 5G, which is currently the company's flagship phone. This is a gaming smartphone with Qualcomm technology 865 Snapdragon SoC, 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and other features such as a display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Despite the fact that the device was filled to the brim with first-class features and functions, the device did not have the ability to switch between the screen refresh rate modes among other trivial settings. However, it turns out that the device has these functions, but they are hidden.
First of all, speaking of the missing features, they include a 120 Hz refresh rate mode, advanced screen color adjustment and HD screen recording function. These are not completely deep and destructive features, but they are usually appreciated in smartphones with a certain degree of customizability. But according to a recent post on the Red Magic 5G forums, it seems that the device actually includes all of these additional settings and can even be easily accessed through an application such as Activity Launcher.
The list of functions that can be accessed includes:
- cn.nubia.theme.local.ThemeActivity
- This includes all predefined themes on the device where you can select a “colorful international” theme to circle the icons on your device.
- cn.nubia.gamecenter.settings.records.RecordSettingActivity
- Allows you to switch between standard screen recording quality from SD to HD.
- com.qualcomm.qti.qcolo.QColorActivity
- Allows users to choose from 8 different color modes for the screen.
- cn.nubia.factory.ChooseFpsActivity
- Users can enable the refresh rate of 120 Hz, but the default settings and the notification of the refresh rate will not display the new value.
- Enabling "automatic FPS by default" in the hidden menu will return the original refresh rate.
Reportedly, this is not the only hidden feature that Nubia Red Magic 5G has. Other smaller features include the percentage of battery charge in the status bar, fingerprint calibration settings, and battery statistics. All this can be made available through the Activity Launcher app.
