Oppo Foldable Launch Date Set, Oppo 'Peacock' Coming In 2022

Details on the release date of the Oppo Foldable smartphone have been scarce due to lack of official confirmation. However, there are rumors that Chinese consumer electronics are gearing up to unveil their first foldable device. As expected, the smartphone has been rumored for a long time. Recent rumors about the Oppo Foldable launch date suggest the phone could go official later this year.

Unfortunately, Oppo continues to remain silent on the long-awaited release date for its phone and other details. However, the Oppo Fold has been subject to several leaks in the past. Earlier this month, Oppo's foldable phone went through a patent website. The patent images have given us our first glimpse of the phone's impressive design. In addition, some reports suggest that the company will introduce foldable smartphones in the next few days.

Oppo foldable smartphone release date

Based on a report from Oppo's native China, the Oppo Foldable phone will launch in December 2021. The well-known Weibo leader claims the highly anticipated foldable phone will go official next month. It is also worth mentioning here that the device is codenamed "Peacock". Oppo is also gearing up to launch another phone, codenamed Buttery, in 2022, according to the analyst. In addition, the publication Weibo sheds more light on the technical specifications of the future device.

Oppo's foldable phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. On the other hand, the Oppo Butterfly device will use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 chipset. In addition, there is a possibility that the Oppo Butterfly could turn out to be a Find X4 series device. In addition to the presentation of the foldable device, Oppo is reportedly preparing to announce the next generation OPPO Reno7 series smartphones.

While nothing is set in stone, the Oppo Fold may launch in mid-December this year. Previously published reports claim the foldable device will feature an LTPO (Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) display. In addition, the phone will reportedly run the latest Android 12 OS with Oppo's own ColorOS 12 user interface. In terms of optics, the Oppo Foldable phone will have a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera on the back.

It is not yet clear if the smartphone will have triple or four cameras on the back. However, the Oppo Foldable phone will reportedly feature a 32MP front-facing shooter for selfies and video calls. In addition, the device can have an inward-folding design, like the Huawei Mate X2 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3. What's more, it will likely feature an 8-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. In addition, the phone can be powered by a 4500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging.
