Redmi K50 series likely to debut with SoC Dimensity 9000 in February

With official release MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1, a new wave of flagship smartphones is coming. This morning @DCS, a popular Weibo tech blogger claims that “the new Snapdragon 8 Gen1 will be available in the middle of this month and the new Dimensity 9000 will look like February.” There are also reports that Redmi K50 will be the first smartphone to use this flagship processor. It claims that the tentative launch date for the Redmi K50 series will be at the end of February.

Redmi k50 series

According to the previous report, the Redmi K50 has a complete set of processors. It is reported that this device will use four microcircuits. It will use Snapdragon 870, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Dimensity 7000 and Dimensity 9000. Different models in this series should have different configurations. The Redmi K50 will use MediaTek's sub-flagship, the Dimensity 7000 chip. This chip is better than the Snapdragon 870.

The Redmi K50 Pro will ship with the relatively cheaper Dimensity 9000. This chip is a 4nm processor. Its performance is on par with or possibly better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen1. However, it may be a little weaker from the point of view of the image ISP and so on.

Redmi K50 Pro +, as a high-end flagship, can use Snapdragon 8 Gen1. The overall performance of this device should be better in all aspects.

In addition, the Redmi K50 Pro and Redmi K50 Pro + models will support the E5's high refresh rate and 100W fast charging.

Redmi K50 series for premium display use

Looking at the positioning of this series, the Redmi K50 series could be the first Redmi device with a 2K display. Not long ago, Xiaomi Group China president and general manager of the Redmi brand, Lu Weibing, stated that the Redmi K50 is too strong not to be called a flagship.

Redmi K50 will ship with a flagship display. According to the exposure parameters, Redmi's internal planning for new products includes five aspects: independent display, LCD, OLED screen made of E6 material, adaptive refresh rate technology and ultra-clear 2K resolution. It is worth noting that the OLED display with ultra-clear 2K resolution, E6 material, independent display chip and other specifications are all new configurations that have never been used by the Redmi brand before. The Redmi K50 is likely to be the first Redmi 2K model and supports higher refresh rate settings.

The Redmi K40 features a flagship design and features an E4 OLED display with a high refresh rate. Redmi K50 as a next generation product will continue its previous strategy and will continue to use an ultra-high quality screen.
