Dimensity 7000: information about the first 5nm chip from MediaTek appeared

Humiliated by years of lagging behind a number of competitors, MediaTek has finally risen. The company won the title of largest mobile chip maker from Qualcomm and recently announced a performance monster - Dimensity 9000 ... It remains only to understand how good this chip is against the background of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 with AMD graphics.

MediaTek intends to compete in the sub-flagship chip segment as well. The company is gearing up to release the Dimensity 7000, which should outperform the Snapdragon 870 in performance. The chipmaker has scheduled a press conference in China for December 16; and they say they will have a local Dimensity 9000 announcement and possibly a Dimensity 7000.

Well-known network insider Digital Chat Station is one of those who spoke about MediaTek's plans to release a Snapdragon 870 competitor, and now he has lifted the veil of secrecy over the characteristics of the processor. . The Dimensity 7000 will be manufactured using TSMC's 5nm process, he said; and will receive two core clusters: four Cortex-A78 cores with a peak frequency of 2,75 GHz; and a quartet of energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores operating at 2,0 GHz. The Mali-G510 MC6 graphics subsystem will be responsible for graphics processing.

MediaTek mobile platforms

MediaTek mobile platforms are used in many Android smartphone models, but even the company's best new products have never truly been able to compete with Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon variants. However, the advent of the Dimensity 9000 chipset could be a game-changer; this variant beats both Snapdragon chipsets and, in some respects, Apple's latest solutions.

Last week, the company unveiled the Dimensity 9000 mobile platform, the company's most powerful chip. According to preliminary estimates, it is about 35% more productive than the flagship Snapdragon 888; GPU performance is also 35% faster.

The processor is a chip made according to the -nm process technology; and uses one 2 GHz Cortex-X3,05, three 710 GHz Cortex-A2,85s and four 510 GHz Cortex-A1,8s. It uses a Mali-G710 GPU as well as a six-core APU (used to process AI algorithms).

The Image Processor (ISP) is an 18-bit ISP Imagiq capable of capturing photos up to 320 megapixels and transferring data at up to 9 gigapixels per second. The built-in modem does not support 5G mmWave standard, but is capable of working in networks up to 6 GHz. Supports Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E.

According to MediaTek , in the Geekbench multi-core test, the Dimensity 9000 chipset is approximately equal in performance to the Apple A15, which is used in the latest smartphones of the iPhone 13 series, and is gaining about 4000 points. At the same time, MediaTek barely discloses other benchmarks against Apple products; which in many respects often leave competitors far behind.
