iPhone X with USB Type-C sold for $ 86000

Perhaps no tech blog would report an enthusiast completely tired of the iPhone's Lightning port. So tired I decided to make my iPhone dream come true with a USB Type-C port. I made such an iPhone, posted instructions on how to do it on my own Youtube channel; and put an experimental iPhone X up for auction.

The starting price was $ 4000, but after a few days the rate increased. The auction has ended, and it is already known how many iPhone X with USB Type-C were sold.

Nevertheless, prudence prevailed, and no one gave 100 thousand dollars for the modified iPhone. But among the 116 people who took part in the auction; There was one who spared "only" $ 86 for an experimental product. It is for this amount that the iPhone X with USB Type-C is being sold.

The buyer knows what, according to the author of the project; he will receive a prototype that can only work in certain scenarios. He does not exclude that at some point the smartphone will fail and turn into a "brick" that will gather dust in a desk drawer or from time to time will be put on public display as a collectible.

EU will give manufacturers two years to switch to USB Type-C

The talk of adopting USB Type-C as the standard for charging electronic devices in Europe has been going on for several years now. However, now the European Parliament has come close to adopting this decision. Last week, the MEP talked about why she doesn't share Apple's concerns that the adoption of USB Type-C as a standard could hurt innovation. Today, the department explained its position in more detail.

A spokesman for the European Parliament said the USB Type-C port is a technology that has been pre-selected as a common standard. However, this in no way prevents manufacturers from developing other technologies that will provide better charging and data transfer capabilities.

In addition, the European Parliament said in a statement that there will be a transitional period for the transfer of devices to the new standard; which will not lead to the rapid obsolescence of devices already on the market. USB Type-C will become mandatory for use only two years after it is adopted as a single standard.

Apple is currently the main opponent of USB Type-C standardization. The company says such a move will slow innovation and lead to more e-waste. However, by that time, USB Type-C was becoming the standard in the European market; Apple will have to completely abandon physical connectors in branded smartphones.
