Following rumors rumored a few days ago, Microsoft is finally entering the education market with the new Surface Laptop SE. With it, the company wants to compete with Chromebooks and school iPads, using the $ 249 price tag as its primary weapon.

Microsoft has spared everything possible to make this computer sell for less than $ 250: its body is made of plastic, the charging connector is a typical classic barrel port, and its connectivity is very limited.
The keyboard is the same size and layout as the Surface Go 3, albeit in a solid body. The webcam is not the best in the world, although it will cover the basic needs of any classroom conference. There is no data on weight or thickness, but the 11,6-inch screen should allow it to have some portability.
What we know from Microsoft is that the company will distribute selected computer components so schools can save money on sending devices to a center for repair. The Surface Laptop SE is designed to be easy to repair.
Of course, the new Windows 11 SE is preinstalled on the computer. The system was introduced with the Surface Laptop SE as an educational combination that will try to counter Chromebooks and ChromeOS; and was specially designed to work at a good pace despite the basic specifications of the laptop.
The Surface Laptop SE will go on sale in schools in the US, Canada, UK and Japan starting in early 2022. It is hoped that over time they will cover more countries due to the logistics crisis. Recall that the computer will not be sold to the public; if not, it will be sold to schools at the business level.
