According to analysts at the Canalys agency, this applies to sales of any tablet computers in all regions of the world, with the exception of the Asia-Pacific region. Although the first place in terms of sales is occupied by Apple, and Samsung shipments have dropped markedly, the Korean company is still in the lead.

Samsung remains in second place. 7,2 million tablets were delivered in three months; In total, 37,7 million tablets were sold worldwide in the third quarter. At the same time, during the same period last year, 9,03 million Samsung tablets were sold in the world.

Samsung maintains second place in tablet market in QXNUMX

In Europe, the Middle East and Africa, shipments of tablets, including mini laptops and Chromebooks, fell 27%, in mainland China 14%, North America 24% and Latin America 1%. At the same time, in the Asia-Pacific region, they grew by 23%.

In the tablet market, Samsung came in second with 19,1%, followed by Apple with 40,4% of sales. The five leaders are also Lenovo, Amazon and Huawei, the latter account for 11,3%, 7,4% and 6,6%, respectively (in quantitative terms).

At the same time, Samsung hardly entered the top five computer manufacturers (including tablets) - according to this indicator, it took only the fifth place after Lenovo, Apple, HP and Dell.

“Despite the end of its explosive growth, the tablet market remains strong; given the long period of recession leading up to the COVID-19 pandemic, said Canalys analyst Himani Mukka.

“After five consecutive quarters of growth, all regions except Asia Pacific experienced a drop in shipments. In most of the world, there is demand from consumers; and support for basic educational functions for young children has slowed since the height of the pandemic. ”

“But because of the large gap in device proliferation in the Asia-Pacific region and the region's preference for tablets as a learning tool; demand will continue until early next year. It's also worth noting that despite the long refresh cycles for tablets; the installed base has grown dramatically over the past 18 months.

Even if many choose not to update their tablets in the coming years; Supply volumes are expected to be higher than expected by 2020. Beyond the consumer space, commercial tablet rollouts will be an important aspect of the accelerated digital transformation that enterprises are embarking on as the economy recovers, new workstyles and 5G roll out. ”
