Raspberry Pi Zero 2W with 512MB LPDDR2 SDRAM launched for $ 15

The long-awaited successor to the Raspberry Pi Zero dubbed the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W microcontroller has gone official. The newly unveiled microcontroller is powered by the Broadcom BCM2710A1 chipset, just like the starter version of the Raspberry Pi 3. The 1GHz Zero W wireless card's CPU is capable of up to five times the speed of its predecessor. Plus, it comes with 512MB of LPDDR2 RAM.

The newfangled board works with both IoT projects and smart home applications. As a reminder, the original Raspberry Pi Zero debuted back in 2015. The Raspberry Pi's original asking price was first increased earlier this year.

The recently released Pi Zero successor isn't burning a hole in consumers' pockets, however. The Raspberry Pi Zero is a more compact version of the stock Pi that retailed for $ 5 in 2015. Moreover, it did not provide higher I / O. In 2017, its capabilities were updated to include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

This updated version was released as the Pi Zero W for $ 10. Unfortunately, the performance did not change, as there was nowhere to play. However, that all changed with the new Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W.

Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W Specifications

The Pi Zero 2 W retains the physical dimensions and shape of the original Raspberry Pi Zero. However, it contains three additional cores. In addition, the board is powered by a quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1GHz. The most notable feature of the board is the Raspberry Pi RP3A0 SIP (system in package). In addition, the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W comes with 512MB LPDDR2 SDRAM. Plus, it comes with Broadcom BCM2710A1 chipset.

In terms of connectivity, the board has a USB 2.0 port, a pair of Micro-USB ports for power, and one Mini-HDMI port. In addition, it supports Bluetooth v4.2 and 802.11GHz IEEE 2,4 b / g / n wireless LAN. It also includes H.264 (1080p30) encoding, MPEG-4 (1080p30) decoding, and OpenGL ES 1.1, 2.0 graphics. H.264 for superior video viewing.

On top of that, the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W has reset solder points, composite video, and a CSI-2 camera connector.

Strap dimensions 65×30 mm. The Raspberry Pi has also unveiled a new official USB power supply with a USB micro-B connector. The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 power supply will come in handy to power your Raspberry Pi 3B+ or 3B. Its retail price is about $8. In India, it comes with a Type-D port. The Raspberry Pi 4 was announced back in 2019 for $35 for the 1GB model. A 2 GB version was available for $45, while a 4 GB variant was available for $55.
