Pixel 4 prototype reveals nearly curved display

Google just announced the Pixel 6 series consisting of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The devices are equipped with a completely new design language, Android 12 and the proprietary Google Tensor chipset. While these devices steal headlines and are the first devices in the minds of Pixel enthusiasts, today's news contains leaks about the Pixel 4. That's right, the 4 Pixel 2019 is already gaining attention online.

If the Pixel 6 series lags behind the third major design change in the lineup, the Pixel 4 lags behind the second. However, a new leak suggests the device may have had a slightly different design.

Photos of Google Pixel 4 prototypes have been posted online today showing Google experimenting with a curved display for the flagship. The retail version of the Google Pixel 4 has a flat display. The images were tweeted by Mishaal Rahman, former editor-in-chief of XDA Developers. The photos were originally posted on a Chinese forum, according to the source who shared the photos with him.

Interestingly, the curved display is the only thing that didn't make it to the final version. The photo also shows that the Pixel 4 prototype has a thick chin bezel, just like the Pixel 4. On the back, we still had a square camera module inspired by the iPhone 11 series. The camera body is rectangular and accommodates two camera modules.

Google Pixel 4 Technical Specifications

As a reminder, the Pixel 4 hit the market with a 5,7-inch Full HD + OLED flat display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood is Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. Plus, it comes with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. The phone has a thick bezel at the top that houses an 8MP front camera, a ToF 3D sensor, and components for the quirky Soli Radar technology.

The main camera of the phone is equipped with a 12,2 MP main camera and a 16 MP telephoto lens. The latter has optical image stabilization and 2x optical zoom. Battery life is one of the downsides of this phone as it has a tiny 2800mAh battery. It features fast charging up to 18W and wireless charging.

Other specs include stereo speakers, Face ID support, an IP68 rating, and dual SIM support with eSIM. It launched from Android 10 and can be upgraded to Android 12.
