An IDC report shows that 2020 is seeing significant growth in wearable device shipments.

The Indian smart wearables market has clearly outperformed in 2019 by posting a stronger result for 2020.

These are really good times for the wearable device market in India, as a recent IDC report showed that the overall projected growth for this segment in 2020 was about 144% compared to the previous year, 2019. This was due to over 36 million units shipped abroad.

The IDC report also states that headphone shipments have more than tripled from 2019, mainly due to their popular use for virtual meetings and other e-learning processes, and this represents a huge 83,6% of the total. quantity. This is equivalent to over 30 million shipments in 2020.

According to the report, domestic company BoAt ranks first in wearable devices with higher shipments (33,3%), followed by Samsung with 14,5%.

The number of bracelets fell sharply by 34,3% compared to 2019, mainly due to the growing popularity of alternative watches. Xiaomi and Realme are leaders in this segment.

On the other hand, Watches posted a 139,3% increase over 2019 to 2,6 million deliveries. Noise and Realme are the leaders in the watch segment of the market.

The latest quarter recorded the highest quarterly performance for wearable devices in India. Overall, approximately 2020 million units were shipped in the fourth quarter of 15,2, up 198,2% from 2019. It was the first quarter that watch shipments exceeded one million units (1,3 million units were shipped). In his review of the outlook for the Indian wearable device market, Jaipal Singh, CEO of IDC India, said that there has been a fundamental shift in the audio segment from wired to wireless in 2020, which is expected to continue in the same direction in 2021 as improved sound quality has become a centerpiece for OEMs.
