Meizu announces Flyme 9 and "Flyme for Watch" for smartwatches

Chinese handset manufacturer Meizumay have slowed the release cycle of its smartphones, but the brand still has faith in its own Flyme ROMs. The company has long unveiled the custom firmware Flyme 9. The new ROM replaces the Flyme 8 that was released in 2019, although Meizu pushed Flyme 8.1 on some models last year.

In terms of design, desktop icons are now in square rectangles with beveled edges and beautiful color schemes that blend well with the background. Every third party application can also rely on algorithms to achieve consistent icon styles. Some system level plugins have been added and some plugins can be dragged onto the negative screen (Aicy overview).

The notification and control centers have also been redesigned. At the same time, notifications and control keys are displayed side by side in a horizontal screen orientation, which is convenient in operation.

Meizu has also visually simplified the fingerprint icon and app interface by removing the decorative elements and keeping only the most direct page logic and necessary elements.

You will also get some cool screensavers and wallpapers, as well as new themes. Flyme 9 also includes Flyme 8 themes, allowing users to travel through time and space and reminisce about classics. Live wallpapers support dark and light color modes and can be transformed at different levels.

Dynamic effects are also built into the interface, covering fingerprint unlocking, face recognition, screen rotation, gestures, and more. The icon self-overlay algorithm can have smooth and intelligent animation even if the app is unpopular.

Starting with hardware features and interaction methods, Meizu redefined the design language and extended the Flyme 9's sense of order to the small screen. It features a redesigned launcher, notification center, and toggle switch for a simple and seamless experience.

In terms of vision, Flyme for Watch supports custom watch faces and contains over 30 small components. Users are free to use their creativity to match. It supports album set settings for dynamic and static images. It also has a unique artistic watch face that you can choose from anytime, anywhere.

In terms of functions, Flyme for Watch not only supports normal notification sync, music control and other functions, but also supports eSIM independent calling function. Tat means the watch can work independently of the phone. There is also a Find Phone function on board.

Flyme for Watch not only supports regular notification syncing

At the same time, "Flyme for Watch" comes with a dedicated voice assistant Aicy that works just like on a mobile phone. That is, they provide users with a real smartwatch. The introduction of the Meizu Pay payment instrument also expands the usability of the Meizu watch.

The watch's custom ROM also supports the installation of third-party applications. The most advanced apps include Air Travel, Baidu Maps, NetEase Cloud Music, Alipay, Sogou Input Method, QQ and many more viewing apps.

Seeking to solve two natural problems: smartwatch performance and battery life. Meizu also introduced the OneMind smart engine on the watch side. It fine-tunes core capabilities according to hardware characteristics and watch usage scenarios, including 300 custom optimizations.

Meizu announced at the event that it will release its first "Flyme for Watch" smartwatch in May this year.
