Xiaomi patented a design for a 3D smartphone

There have been several 3D smartphones in the past, however, none of them have become popular. Consequently, large companies did not try to invest in it. But now completely unexpected Xiaomi patented the design of such a phone.

According to LetsGoDigital The Beijing Xiaomi Mobile software applied for this design patent in The Hague International Design Bulletin, part of the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) last month (January 2021). But surprisingly, the application for this patent was approved within a month, and its documentation was published on February 5, 2021.

Smartphone without notch, hole or pop-up module. Hence, it can be equipped with a camera under the display. In addition, there are just four cameras on the back of the device, one in each corner.

At the same time, on the right side there is a power key along with a volume rocker, and on the left side there is a SIM card slot. Finally, at the bottom of the phone is the USB Type-C port, 3,5mm headphone jack and holes for the speaker as well as the microphone.

As for these four cameras, they can be used for 3D photography and video shooting. As we mentioned at the beginning, there have been many phones in the past such as HTC Evo 3D and LG Optimus 3D with similar features. But they failed. In fact, in the entertainment industry, 3D has been replaced by AR and VR.

Therefore, we do not expect Xiaomi to release a 3D smartphone in the near future.
