MIUI 12.5 Global is Official: Features and Deployment Details

Xiaomi has finally presented an intermediate version MIUI 12.5 worldwide. As with earlier versions, the company has focused on greater performance, updated the user interface, improving the processor and power consumption. The company also shared details of the MIUI 12.5 update release at the event.

Xiaomi kicks off the event by saying MIUI 12.5 (based on Android 11) is more focused on system optimization. It mentions that the total memory of the main scene is reduced by 20%. This means that the optimized user interface will help reduce CPU usage by 22% and also reduce power consumption by 15% than before.

This partly confirms the Chinese variant of MIUI 12.5, however, the company did not mention many features from China, such as MIUI +, Natural Sounds & Haptics, privacy features such as a sandbox engine and updated Super Wallpapers. In any case, Xiaomi did talk about an improved and smoother interface with updated gestures and task rendering.

That is, unlike previous versions, where gestures and other tasks were handled in one main thread, MIUI 12.5 gestures receive a separate thread so that the CPU does not overload. And the interface is faster and smoother. Then MIUI 12.5 Global will allow users to uninstall more system apps.

The company even compared it with such giants as One UI 2.5, iOS (14.2.1) and said that most applications can now be uninstalled. Moreover, you can also hide other apps if you don't like them.

Some of the recently removed system apps include Mi Calculator, Notes App, Weather, Compass, Scanner, Mi Recorder and others. The ones you can hide include Mi Music, Themes, Mi Video, Downloads, and Mi File Manager.
