This could be the design of the future foldable Google Pixel smartphone.

How often do you see brands like Google aiming for the stars when it comes to smartphones? 2021 kicked off with an explosion when we see more foldable devices. Among other things, Google is expected to release the Foldable Pixel smartphone. And now we may have some details regarding the same.

As seen from windowsunited.de,, we see two patents filed Google Inc.., In WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization). Publication under numbers 2021/011949 и 20210018961 shows that the structures under consideration have a hinge mechanism.

Speaking of the former, we see a more traditional hinge concept that can be found in many devices such as the Huawei Mate Xs ... That is, an outward folding structure with a cylindrical hinge vertically centered. The thickness of the hinge may be an attempt to compensate for the greater curvature of the display's outer folding.

The second design option is an inward-folding display. However, the hinge is somewhat reminiscent of the first Royole Flexpai and even early Xiaomi prototypes. The images show the thick ridge structures supporting the frame. Google defines this as “multiple hinge knots,” suggesting a multi-segment hinge. One of the images also shows what appears to be a separate assembly with hinges connecting the display and bezel.

However, this patent, filed back in July 2020, was published on January 21, 2021. We're not sure if this will be the final design, but the fact that Google has patented the exterior and interior design is a welcome sign to try out all the possibilities.

Either way, we'll definitely hear more about the Google Pixel Foldable in the near future. So what do you think of Google's foldable designs? Let us know in the comments below.
