Back at the end of December 2020, the Xiaomi crowdfunding Mi Portable Mouse 2, the successor to the original 79 yen Mi Portable Mouse in its home country of China. Since this wireless mouse successfully completed the company's fundraising goal in a matter of days, it is now officially available for purchase at several retail stores.
Xiaomi Mi Portable Mouse 2 Specifications and Features
Before crowdfunding began, the Mi Portable Mouse 2 was the first to be spotted on the Bluetooth SIG back in August 2020. Now, months later, this wireless mouse has finally hit stores in China.
Sandblasted anodized aluminum alloy body, two-tone finish, two colors (silver, space gray), dimensions 109,8x60x25,7mm, weight about 86g (including battery). It is worth noting that this mouse is not entirely made of aluminum, as it contains materials such as ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadlene Styrene) and Polycarbonate).
One of the major USPs (Unique Selling Points) of this product is that it cannot operate via Bluetooth 4.2 LE or via a 2,4GHz USB receiver that can be placed under the magnetic cover of the mouse next to the battery when not in use. Hence, it can be connected to two devices at the same time and can easily switch between them with a dedicated button.
The second feature is that it supports the following 4 DPI levels for different resolutions.
- 1200dpi - 1080p (FHD) Display
- 1800 dpi - widescreen display
- 2400 dpi - 2K (QHD) display
- 4000 dpi - 4K display (UHD)
The DPI key is at the bottom, while the regular left and right mouse buttons, scroll wheel, toggle key and LED indicator are at the top. In addition, the product uses an AA battery that the company claims will last up to 12 months.

Last but not least, the Mi Portable Mouse has the model number BXSBMW02 and supports Microsoft Windows 10, [19459002] Apple macOS 10.10 or later and Android 6.0 or later. While there is no mention of iPadOS, it should work with iPad via bluetooth.
Xiaomi Mi Portable Mouse 2 Price and Availability
Xiaomi Mi Portable Mouse 2 was funded for ¥ 79. But now it sells for 89 yen on Mi.com and 99 yen on Xiaomi Youpin and JD in China. Since previous Xiaomi products were available in global markets, they may appear in other regions in the coming days.
