Official teaser confirms Motorola Edge S is coming soon

Motorola's upcoming flagship appeared in the news quite often in recent days. At first, Lenovo CEO in China earlier this week released a teaser that suggests the brand will launch a Snapdragon 8xx-powered phone soon. Lenovo GM stopped short without naming the model name. However, Weibo indicated that the post was from a Motorola Edge S device. Motorola edge S

Well, the Chinese tech giant has released another teaser about the device. This time, a teaser posted on Motorola's official Weibo page has confirmed that the device will be called the Motorola Edge S. The device will be the successor to Motorola's Edge launched last year.

The posting ended without revealing any details about the device, but renowned Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station had previously suggested that the phone would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series SoC rather than a Snapdragon 888 or 865.

The Motorola Edge S could be a rebranded version of the upcoming Moto G device with the Snapdragon 800 series SoC, which has been referred to in the news for a while as the Motorola Nio (XT2125). If so, the device will sport an FHD + (1080 x 2520 pixels) display with a two-hole notch and an unusual 105Hz refresh rate.

According to the Geekbench listing, it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM. This suggests that the unannounced Snapdragon 800 series chip could be based on last year's flagship SoC. Also, since there is already an overclocked version in the form of the Snapdragon 865+, the new chipset could be an overclocked option.

Other leaked details of the Motorola Nio include that the device will come with a 64MP main sensor as well as a 16MP ultra wide-angle camera and a 2MP depth sensor with a triple rear camera. At the front, there will be a dual-camera setup consisting of a 16MP main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. The phone also has 8GB / 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and runs Android 11 out of the box.
