The Redmond tech giant is currently using processors based on Intel for most of their Azure cloud services. In addition, the Surface line is equipped with Intel processors. But now it looks like Microsoft is ready to move on.

The company recently worked with AMD and Qualcomm to develop specialized chips for the Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro X, highlighting the fact that Intel could soon be replaced. But, as with Apple, this is likely to happen in stages.

Microsoft has reportedly been working on offering devices with an ARM-based chipset for quite some time now, as well as improving support for the Windows 10 operating system. However, unlike Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, the company has a much broader range of technologies.
