Overseas shipments of Chinese smartphones increased in the third quarter of 2020

This year has been a tough one for handset manufacturers. However, the last quarter appears to have fared better for Chinese manufacturers, as the report says phone shipments have increased.

The information is taken from Digitimes Researchand according to their findings, global shipments of Chinese smartphone suppliers rose to 182 million, up 10,6% from the previous quarter but down 5,6% from the same quarter in 2019.

Unfortunately, Huawei was not included in the list of those who recorded an increase in retail sales. The Chinese giant recorded a 25,5% drop in overall shipments in the third quarter of the year, in contrast to its competitors - Xiaomi, OPPO и Livingthat recorded growth. However, all four companies accounted for 74,3% of the total registered shipments, although the report indicates that this figure is less than in the third quarter of 2019.

It is estimated that Chinese manufacturers will account for about 50% of total global shipments in the last quarter of the year, but this figure should be less than in Q4 2019 as the market slowly recovers. Digitimes suggests Huawei could be toppled as its competitors continue to increase their global shipments.

We are still looking forward to the release of a number of new Chinese phones before the end of the year. POCO has a mid-range phone that will launch globally in early December and we wouldn't be surprised if Redmi, RealmeVivo and OPPO are also announcing new models for their existing series to take stock of the year.
