Chinese companies recruit semiconductor engineers from South Korea

Chinese semiconductor companies are hiring South Korean engineers to strengthen their domestic semiconductor industry and supply chains. The move is likely to come under pressure from recent US sanctions that threaten existing suppliers.

According to the report BusinessKorea , a South Korean headhunting company is looking for semiconductor etching specialists for a Chinese company. The job posting appears to indicate that it is for a well-known foreign company and is recruiting engineers with a master's degree or higher who have worked as a department head in etching or plasma.

For those who don't know, etching is the process of drawing patterns on semiconductor circuits. In the semiconductor industry, this process is becoming more complex and important as manufacturing processes are now measured in nanometers. Likewise, another recruiting site posted ads that said, “We will provide benefits to former engineers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.

These ads also promise exceptional working conditions with high wages, good housing and the guarantee of an international school for workers' children. An industry insider stated, “I understand that Chinese companies are trying to contact employees at Samsung Electronics' NAND flash factory in Xi'an, China, or SK Hynix's DRAM factory in Wuxi, to ensure the safety of personnel in the semiconductor field. The move of Chinese semiconductor companies is likely related to the ongoing crisis caused by the US sanctions, which have already limited the supply of critical chips from Huawei.
