OnePlus smartphones could get AOD with Android 11 update

OnePlus has been using an AMOLED display on its smartphones since the OnePlus 3 since 2016. But even after 4 years, the company's phones still lack AOD (always on display). Fortunately, in early March of this year, this feature received enough votes within the OnePlus IDEAS program to be selected for implementation. Later in May, the brand even shared a rough timeline for the rollout. Now, Pete Lau, founder and CEO of OnePlus, is officially teasing the arrival of AOD on Twitter.

Oxygen OS is one of the most popular Android skins on the market due to its similarity to stock Android and its fast animations. While it has many useful features and customization options, it still lacks a consistent display.

In fact, AOD is the most requested feature on OnePlus smartphones for years. It looks like it will finally come out with the release of OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11 according to teaser image 19459003] no one else CEO Pete Lau.

According to the timeline set for the brand, development for Always-on Display was due to start in June, and it should be included in the Closed Beta builds in August, followed by the Open Beta in September.

In other words, supported devices, likely OnePlus 6 and up, will get AOD by the end of this year, if the company manages to roll out stable Android 11 to them by then.
