OnePlus 8 Pro Is the latest premium flagship from the Chinese company. But recently, people have started to notice an interesting feature that the 5MP color filter camera offers. While this seemed like an odd addition to the camera module, the Color Filter was able to see through some plastics and even thin white clothing.
It is now proposed that OnePlus can disable this feature altogether, as the new OnePlus 8 Pro is being sold in India with color filters disabled. When the camera’s ability was originally discovered, the company sent out an OTA update that essentially turned off the camera. However, this was recognized as a mistake, and OnePlus soon canceled the change. But a new report suggests that this feature will be completely disabled on the flagship device in India.
XDA developers reportedly found evidence of this move taking place in the Indian market. According to their new post, the OnePlus 4.0.267 camera, released for OxygenOS 10.5.10 for OnePlus 8 Pro devices in India, contains several notable add-ons. This new update adds video filters, but apparently also includes plans to switch Smart Scene Enhancement.
In addition, the update also includes the “InfraredCameraBuilder.ModelsToDisableInfraredCamera” property, which has been changed to include “IN2020” and “IN2021”. The first relates to the Chinese version of OnePlus 8 Pro, and the second to the Indian version. When you enable the values that you plan to deploy in IN2021, it was found that the update disables the color filter camera in the camera application.
Despite the fact that the OnePlus 8 Pro has already been launched, the device has not yet begun in India. The main reason for the delay was government-sanctioned blockages and restrictions. But since the restrictions are removed, an early launch is expected. Interestingly, XDA developers also said that internal sources revealed a possible fix for a camera with a color filter. In other words, the company will eventually turn on the camera again after “fixing” the camera’s inadvertent capabilities.
