Some Mi 11 buyers have found a way to get the 55W Xiaomi GaN charger for less than a cent.

My 11 is already on sale in China and this flagship phone is the first phone from the manufacturer to not come with a charger and USB cable in the box. However Xiaomi gave buyers another opportunity to get these accessories at no additional cost. Now, it looks like some shoppers have found a way to get a charger for almost free without purchasing phone.

If you opt for the charger and cable kit, you get a 55W Xiaomi GaN charger that costs 99 yen (~ $ 15) if you buy it separately. According to a Chinese online publication MydriveSome shoppers have figured out that they can get the charger for as little as ¥ 0,01 (~ $ 0,0015) without clutching the phone.

Xiaomi Mi 11 set edition order

Obviously, when you select the Set Edition, which is the name of the kit with accessories, on the checkout page the order appears as two separate items. As seen in the image above, the buyer opted to purchase the Set Edition 8 + 256GB at ¥ 4299 (~ $ 658), but it is listed as two separate items at checkout - the phone itself is priced at ¥ 4298,99 and a GaN Power Charger 55W costs ¥ 0,01 (~ $ 0,0015).

Some shoppers have chosen to use this ad format to order the Set Edition and then return the phone while holding onto the charger. So when they get their money back, they get money for the phone, which is 4298,99 yen, and they keep the charger, which they practically got for less than yuan.

Since the phone went on sale on Friday, we do not think any of the buyers who chose to return their orders received a refund, so we cannot verify the information. Some are of the opinion that it is not possible to return the phone without returning the charger as it is a kit, while others are of the opinion that the full cost of the charger will be deducted, so the buyer will receive a refund of Y4200 instead of Y4298,99. The latter seems impossible since the phone doesn't have a 4200 yen price tag.

Do you think Xiaomi should have separated the items in the kit? Or do you think that a disclaimer should be added that the order returned must include all items that were delivered with the specified order? Let us know what you think in the comment box below.
