Motorola Moto G22 appears on Geekbench with disappointing specifications

Motorola is on the rise in the early days of 2022. The company is expected to bring its flagship Motorola Edge X30 to international markets fairly soon with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. In fact, it could become one of the first international devices with this chipset. There are already many Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered smartphones in China, but there are none in the global market. In any case, the Lenovo-owned brand is also preparing a new round of mid-range and budget smartphones. From the looks of it, the company will soon unveil the Moto G Stylus 2022 and the rumored Moto G22. Device has passed via Geekbench and its specs are not very appealing. However, we must learn to cope with disappointments in the low market.

Moto G22 - a smartphone for the budget segment

The alleged Motorola Moto G22 has gone through Geekbench under that moniker. Apparently, the company is not particularly interested in hiding the identity of the device when performing test tests. The database reveals that the phone will ship with the MediaTek Helio P35 SoC. At the moment, this chipset is really outdated with eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores. Moreover, it is not as effective as the latest proposals. In fact, MediaTek's Dimensity chips have never really cared much about energy efficiency. But we're guessing Motorola makes up for that with a huge battery. This is how these brands usually do, they compensate for the lack of performance with a large battery, for example, 5000 mAh.

The device scored a modest 170 points in single-core tests and 912 points in multi-core tests. Unfortunately, the disappointments are not only in terms of performance. The phone runs Android 11. As we head towards mid-January, it is very sad to see devices launch with the 2020 version of Android. Android 12 has been out since October 2021, but many companies are still shipping smartphones with older versions of Android. Motorola has already said it doesn't really care about Android updates, and even in the flagship segment only guarantees one update. With that in mind, we don't even know if this low-cost phone will be updated in the future.

The listing also confirms the presence of 4GB of RAM. We expect it to come with 64GB of internal storage. We also expect an HD + display and a dual or triple camera setup, but with a larger camera and two not-so-useful modules. More detailed information will appear shortly.
