Pete Lau: OnePlus Watch will be released early next year

The OnePlus watch has been in development for several years but has reportedly been delayed. Then this year, details about the watch began to appear in leaks, along with a planned Q2020 2077 release. We even got to see the straps of the limited edition Cyberpunk XNUMX watch. Unfortunately, OnePlus decided to postpone the launch. Now Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, has announced when the watch will arrive.

The top manager and co-founder told InputMag in an interview that they are indeed working on a smartwatch. He took to Twitter today to announce that the OnePlus Watch will be released early next year.

While there is no exact date, we assume the smartwatch will be unveiled alongside the OnePlus 9 series.

So far, we know the OnePlus Watch will have a round watch face, which makes sense since OnePlus doesn't want its first smartwatch to be called an Apple Watch clone (seriously, not all square-faced watches are Apple Watch clones). It will eventually happen though if and when OnePlus decides to make a square watch.

There are reports that the smartwatch will run Wear OS, but this has not been confirmed. Pete Lau said they are working with Google to improve Wear OS, but said this is not confirmation that the smartwatch will ship with the operating system. This is all the information we have, but we expect more details to come out in the weeks leading up to the launch of the wearable device.

OnePlus will join its wearable subsidiaries OPPO and realme, which announced their first smartwatch this year.
