HMD Global has launched two affordable phones in India and the global market: Nokia 3.4 и Nokia 5.4... But what's the difference between these two budget phones and which one suits your needs better? This is more difficult to understand, so we decided to compare the two phones. Check it if you want to know all about them and which one is best for you.

Design

Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 5.4 have the same design: a punch-hole display, narrow bezels around the screen, a round camera module and a fingerprint scanner on the back. They even have the same dimensions and weight. There are only two differences: camera elements and color options. In Nokia 5.4, the LED flash is located outside the camera module, while in Nokia 3.4 it is located inside the camera module. This makes the Nokia 3.4's design a little more attractive, but the Polar Night Nokia 5.4's color options are prettier, at least to me.

Display

With Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 5.4, you get exactly the same display panel: it's a 6,39-inch display with HD + 720x1560 pixels, 400 nits typical brightness and 269 ppi pixel density. This is a below average display in terms of image quality as you get a low level of detail and a not-so-impressive panel in terms of contrast and brightness. But for most users, this is enough.

Technical specifications and software

One of the biggest advantages of Nokia 5.4 over Nokia 3.4 is hardware customization. First, it has the more powerful Snapdragon 662 chipset. It remains an inexpensive SoC, but it is more powerful than the Snapdragon 460 found in the Nokia 3.4. In addition, the Nokia 5.4 offers up to 128GB of internal storage, while you can only get 64GB of internal storage on the Nokia 3.4. Both phones run Android 10 out of the box, close to the standard version, which will receive many updates in the long run thanks to the renowned HMD Global software support.

Camera

Hardware aside, the Nokia 5.4's biggest selling point is the camera, and we're specifically talking about the main camera on the back. While the Nokia 3.4 has a disappointing 13MP sensor, the Nokia 5.4 comes with a pretty good 48MP main camera with a bright f / 1.8 focal aperture. You can shoot photos with higher levels of detail and better performance in low light conditions. The Nokia 5.4 even has a better selfie camera: you get a pretty decent 16MP front camera.

Battery

The Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 5.4 have the same 4000 mAh battery. Considering the display is the same and the chipsets are built at 11nm, the phones should have very similar battery life. Therefore, after checking other specifications, you should choose the best device for yourself: ignore the battery. Either way, you get a great rechargeable phone with a battery that lasts all day even with heavy use.

Price

The Nokia 3.4 for the global market is 159 euros / 193 dollars (more precisely, the European price), while the Nokia 5.4 sells for 199 euros / 241 dollars in Europe. Is it worth spending more on those 40 euros to get a better device? It depends on your actual needs: if you want the best camera performance (for both regular photos and selfies), go for the Nokia 5.4. Given the small gap between the processors of these two devices, we are not suggesting spending another 40 euros on performance alone. Your final decision should be based primarily on the cameras.
