Honor X30 launched with Snapdragon 690 processor and flagship design

After months of preparation Honor began to bring back its popular lines with the Honor 50 series. The devices enjoyed great success in China and also reached European markets. Then, in October, the brand unveiled the Honor X30i and Honor X30 Max, which marked the beginning as well as the continuation of the legendary Honor X series. Now, at the last moment of launch in 2021, the brand is bringing the Honor X30 to the Chinese market. The new mid-range smartphone features attractive specs, a new Qualcomm chipset and an unusual design that makes it easy to believe it's a flagship.

Characteristics Honor X30

The Honor X30 comes with the Honor X30 Play, but it is more efficient than its sibling. For example, we have a gorgeous and massive 6,8-inch IPS LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It boasts a 2388 x 1080 pixels resolution and center punching. The renders assume a device with minimalistic bezels, but we'll have to wait for official hands-on experience to see if that's actually the case. After all, shrinking an LCD bezel is not an easy task.

Under the hood, the Honor X30 is powered by the newly released Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor. This 6nm platform provides 5G connectivity. The phone starts with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while another variant doubles up with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The Honor X30 is powered by a 4500mAh battery with 66W fast charging support.

Honor X30

In terms of optics, the Honor X30 offers a 48MP main camera, 2MP macro and 2MP depth assist. Despite the fancy look, it can be said that this setup is too simple and the phone deserves something better, at least an ultra-wide camera. The camera is inspired by the Honor Magic 3 series, but just looks better than it actually is. There's also a tiny hole-punch hole in the center under the earbud, which houses a 16MP selfie camera.

Honor

The phone downloads Honor's Magic UI 5.0 based on Android 11 and is available in four color options - black, silver, gold and blue. There is no word on Android 12, but we may see an update next year. After all, Honor can use Android for free and update it just like its former parent company.

Price and availability

The Honor X30 is priced at 1499 Yuan ($ 235) for the base model with 6/128 GB configuration. The high-end model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB costs up to 2299 Yuan ($ 361). Official sales will begin on December 24th. For now, the device is only available in China, and Honor has not disclosed availability details.
