Asus ROG Flow Z13 image leaked shows similarities to Surface Pro 8

Leaked images of the Asus ROG Flow Z13 suggest the Taiwanese computer hardware company is working on a Surface Pro rival. If there are rumors on the net, Asus is gearing up to unveil a successor to the ROG Flow X13. In addition, it looks like the alleged laptop will stand toe-to-toe with Microsoft's Surface Pro 2-in-1 laptop. Plus, this convertible laptop turns into a gaming PC when needed.

Asus ROG Flow Z13 image has appeared on the Internet

Earlier, on November 1, renowned analyst Evan Blass shared a photo of the ROG Flow Z13 on his Twitter account. The device in the picture is strikingly similar to the new Microsoft Surface Pro 8. Asus's gaming division has released several ROG-branded gaming machines. The ROG Flow Z13 has a very portable form factor. However, it will likely offer impressive performance. The leaked image of the ROG Flow Z13 shows a slim and light design paired with convertible PC hardware.

The design language seems to take inspiration from the Microsoft Surface Pro 8. However, the ROG Flow Z13 could prove to be a powerful machine. ROG's gaming division also manufactures the Flow X13 GV301. As a reminder, the powerful Flow X13 GV301 convertible laptop has a rigid body, not a tablet-inspired design. Unfortunately, the ROG Flow Z13 seems to have gotten a design from a tablet like the Microsoft Surface Pro.

What else to expect?

If ROG Flow Z13 is similar to X13, it can connect to ASUS eGPU (external graphics card) dubbed XG Mobile, according to report The Verge. What's more, the eGPU turns into a multi-port USB docking station. As a result, the 13-inch convertible transforms into a full-fledged gaming machine. The post suggests that the ROG Flow Z13 can support eGPU connectivity in the same way. In other words, Microsoft should understandably be nervous.

In addition, the external GPU contains many new ports that are not expected to be available on thin and light PCs. It improves I/O. Plus, it could take the performance of the 13-inch ROG Flow Z13 to the next level. Asus introduced the ROG Flow X13 earlier this year. It is still unclear what improvements the supposed Flow Z13 will introduce. The leaked image of the Asus ROG Flow X13 is part of tweets that feature images of the ROG TWS and ROG Zephyrus Duo.
