The report also indicates that the reason for the decline in Apple Watch sales in the third quarter it could be that the release of the Apple Watch Series 7 was later than in previous years. This is due to the fact that potential customers will most likely not buy an Apple Watch Series within a certain period of time prior to launch. The data also shows that total global smartwatch shipments in the third quarter of this year increased by 16% over the same period last year. It continues the double-digit growth trend of the previous quarter.

Apple does not disclose specific sales figures for Apple Watch. However, the company is revealing the characteristics of its wearable devices. In the fourth quarter of 2021, wearable device revenue was $ 7,9 billion. For comparison, the department's revenue for the same period last year was $ 6,52 billion.

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), recently unveiled its Apple Watch Series 7, and unlike previous rumors, the wearables did not have a blood glucose sensor. The feature was reported earlier this year, but it appears that Apple hasn't been able to get it ready for the seventh generation of its smartwatch. However, new rumors suggest that Apple may find a way to introduce it to its upcoming Apple Watch Series 8.

In the new report Digitimes shows that Apple and its suppliers have already begun work on shortwave infrared sensors, a commonly used type of sensor for medical devices. Suppliers in question are Ennostar and Taiwan Asia Semiconductor. The new sensor will most likely be installed on the back of the smartwatch. This will allow the meter to measure the user's blood sugar and glucose.
