Global Chip Shortage Will Affect Apple iPhone 13 Sales Until February 2022

A global chip shortage has impacted sales of the Apple iPhone 13, much to the chagrin of those waiting to get their hands on the recently unveiled iPhone. Earlier this year, the Cupertino tech giant unveiled four new iPhone 13 models in India. These models were also available in international markets. The starting price of the new iPhone models in India is INR 69. Likewise, the most expensive model will set you back a whopping INR 900 nationally.

Despite the high prices, the 2021 iPhone models have managed to gain popularity among iPhone aficionados in India. In fact, some variants and configurations of the iPhone 13 series are currently out of stock as demand for them is skyrocketing. What's more, continued supply chain constraints are preventing Apple from meeting demand. If a new report comes out, iPhone fans will soon be struggling to acquire new iPhone models until next year.

Several sources in the supply chain have confirmed to DigiTimes that Apple will not be able to meet the demand for its new iPhones. DigiTimes Report suggests that Apple is unlikely to be able to meet demand for iPhone 13 series models until February 2022. It's worth mentioning here that Apple hasn't suffered as much as other smartphone makers. However, the company is feeling the impact of the holiday season just around the corner. Moreover, consumers in some regions of India are not getting their hands on the iPhone 13 Pro Max and other new iPhone models.

In an effort to bridge the gap between supply and demand, Apple has reportedly cut iPad production by 50 percent. Additionally, some reports claim that the company is using common parts in its new iPhones. Much to Apple's relief, supply chains have sped up production of the iPhone 13 significantly. To achieve this, supply chains have sped up production of integrated circuit boards. These integrated circuits are fixed inside the "iPhone".

Demand for new iPhone models is likely to grow

The festive season will soon begin in several parts of the world. This could lead to increased demand for new iPhones. As a result, the gap between supply and demand may widen even further. During Apple's recent P&L report, CEO Tim Cook said Apple lost a staggering $ 6 billion due to ongoing chip shortages. It is not yet clear if this number will rise by the end of the year.
