Design
Both Xiaomi Mi 11 and iPhone 12 have stunning designs. I personally like the Xiaomi Mi 11 better because of its narrow bezels and the lack of an ugly notch, especially in the vegan leather version. But this is my opinion, only if you take into account the appearance. The iPhone 12 has better build quality as it is made from the best materials and is waterproof with IP68 certification. In addition, the iPhone 12 is smaller, thinner and lighter than the Xiaomi Mi 11. These are very important features for those who want a versatile and pocketable device.
Display
On paper, it looks like the Xiaomi Mi 11 has the best display and even one of the best panels in the entire market. With the Xiaomi Mi 11, you get a stunning AMOLED panel that can display up to one billion colors, has a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10 + certification, and a peak brightness of up to 1500 nits. This is the best Xiaomi display to date, and it's even a very wide 6,81-inch panel. Last but not least, it has an in-display fingerprint scanner. With the iPhone 12, you do get a lower resolution, smaller display size, lower peak brightness, and a lower refresh rate, but it's still one of the best panels around. Note that the iPhone 12 doesn't have a fingerprint scanner, but it uses Face ID (3D facial recognition) for authentication.
Technical specifications and software
You probably won't notice the difference between the Xiaomi Mi 11 and the iPhone 12 when it comes to performance. Both have a flagship-grade hardware department with the latest chipsets on the market from each manufacturer. The Xiaomi Mi 11 is powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. On the iPhone 12, you get the Apple A14 Bionic chipset, 4GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of NVMe storage. Both chipsets are based on 5nm and support 5G connectivity. Despite having less RAM, iPhone 12 delivers comparable levels of performance thanks to iOS optimizations. Xiaomi Mi 11 is based on Android 11 customized with MIUI 12.5.
Camera
It's too early to say which phone is better than the Xiaomi Mi 11 and iPhone 12 when it comes to cameras. The former has a triple camera setup including a 108MP main sensor with OIS, a 13MP ultra-wide sensor and 5MP macro. The iPhone 12 features a dual camera setup, including an ultra-wide sensor and optical image stabilization. Unfortunately, both phones lack a telephoto lens, so you don't have optical zoom.

Battery
Xiaomi Mi 11 is equipped with a large 4600 mAh battery, which will last longer than the iPhone 12, and a device with 2815 mAh below average (but still well optimized). The Mi 11 not only comes with a larger battery, but also has a faster 50W charging technology and supports reverse wireless charging, while the iPhone 12 does not.
Price
The Xiaomi Mi 11 in China costs $ 611 in the base variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It is still not available in the global market. The iPhone 12 starts at $ 1129. There is no clear winner in this comparison: if you want a better display, you should go for the Mi 11. But the iPhone 12 has a more compact design and better build quality. Otherwise, they are not so different, if you exclude the operating system.
