Netflix games will launch as separate iOS apps

Apple is fighting on multiple front lines. But many think the Cupertino-based company is only concerned about selling as many iPhones as possible. In fact, Apple is also considered a serious competitor in the streaming niche. It simply means that Apple's streaming service (Apple TV +) is competing with other well-known companies on the same iOS platform. In that sense, the recent Netflix move should make Apple wince.

We know that Netflix is already offering mobile games for Android users. However, users only need a valid Netflix subscription to play these games and there will be no additional fees or in-app purchases. This is almost the same as having an “access card” for some paid games that use your credentials on the video platform.

When the company announced this, many iOS users had a logical question. They wonder if Netflix will find solutions to offer games via an iOS app. The fact is that Apple requires developers to individually check each game in the App Store. And this requirement is true for all games, regardless of their availability through the cloud.

In this regard, recently Mark Gurman of Bloomberg in his Power On newsletter claimed that he and developer Steve Moser saw a code indicating that Netflix will release all of its games “individually” for iOS through the App Store. Additionally, Gourmet added that not all of them will download and play in the app.

Netflix games will launch as separate iOS apps

It simply means that the Netflix iOS app will still display games in the catalog. But as soon as you click on any of them to start playing, it will be launched through a separate application. This is common for Android users.

This is how it works now on the Google platform. But Netflix also has the ability to stack games into its Android app. However, Apple users will have no choice but to launch games that are available separately.

For Netflix, this might not be acceptable. What we mean is that this means that the company must follow two concepts instead of one. Thus, it will cause some technical and managerial difficulties. But if Netflix wants games to be available on iOS, that's the only option. “It also highlights the growing rivalry between Apple and Netflix,” explained Gourmet.

He meant that the two companies are competing in different areas, from games to video streaming services. But if they want to coexist, both must accept each other's rules when crossing.
