Design
I love the design of the OPPO Find X2 Pro and I consider it to be the best design in the trio. It's made from amazing materials: you can choose between ceramic and leather (it's vegan leather) with an aluminum frame. The phone is also waterproof up to 1,5 meters thanks to the IP68 certification.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra continues to offer a stunning design with a high screen-to-body-to-frame ratio made of stainless steel, as well as IP68 water resistance.
But the best build quality comes from the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which features a stainless steel frame and ceramic screen. Apple's flagship is waterproof up to 6 meters!
Display
It's a very tough fight here. The displays of these phones are more or less on par, as they provide stunning picture quality that is close to perfection. Unfortunately, the iPhone 12 Pro Max lacks a high refresh rate, so I wouldn't go for it.
In 2020, image quality isn't everything: smoothness matters too. Instead, I would go with the OPPO Find X2 Pro with 10-bit color depth and 120Hz refresh rate. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is very similar, but doesn't allow 120Hz at its maximum Quad HD + resolution. On the other hand, it supports S Pen for handwriting and drawing.
Hardware and software
Each of these devices is equipped with flagship hardware, but the most powerful of them is the iPhone 12 Pro Max: it is based on the new Apple A14 Bionic platform, built on 5nm technology with 5G support.
The second place is taken by the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G with Snapdragon 865+ processor paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. But you should note that the European version does not run on Snapdragon 865+: instead, you get the Exynos 990 chipset, which is actually inferior to the Snapdragon 865 found in the OPPO Find X2 Pro.
Camera
The best camera performance comes from the iPhone 12 Pro Max, followed by the OPPO Find X2 Pro. IPhone 12 Pro Max brings better video recording capabilities, and OPPO Find X2 Pro has higher zoom capabilities thanks to the 5x optical zoom periscope sensor
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is slightly less interesting, but it remains one of the best camera phones around.
Battery
Even though the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a smaller battery, it does offer longer battery life. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is a little disappointing despite its 4400mAh battery, while the Oppo Find X2 Pro sits in the middle.
Find X2 Pro wins over fast charging with its 65W power, but lacks wireless charging.
Price
The Oppo Find X2 Pro retails for € 1199 globally, while you need € 10 less to get the iPhone 12 Pro Max ($ 1099 / € 1189). The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is priced at $ 1299 / € 1299.
If you are a productive user, the S Pen can be very useful, so the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra might be the best choice for you. But if you don't, I believe the OPPO Find X2 Pro is a better phone than the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max looks even better from multiple angles (better hardware and camera, but lacks a high refresh rate and very fast charging) if you can live with iOS.
