Xiaomi Mi Band 5 vs Honor Band 5 vs Realme Band: Specification Comparison

Today is a great day for geeks because Xiaomi officially released Mi Band 5: the fifth generation of its best-selling series of smart fitness bracelets.

The new device comes with many enhancements and new features, including improved software and features that are believed to provide the best user experience.

But in 2020, Mi Band 5 got a lot of competitors from other smartphone manufacturers. Since smart watches are currently a very important niche in the world of high technologies, we have chosen the two most suitable for comparing the characteristics with the new Mi Band 5. We mean Honor Band 5 and Band by Realme, among both the cheapest and most functional fitness trackers you can find.

Design and display

When it comes to design, it's all a matter of taste. I personally prefer the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 because of its curved shape, which makes it more attractive, in my honest opinion.

But some may prefer the Realme Band, because it looks more like a bracelet, as its display looks like a continuation of the strap. Mi Band 5, Honor Band 5 and Realme Band are waterproof smart bracelets, but the Realme Band is less waterproof than its competitors.

Using the Realme Band, you can climb to a depth of 1,5 meters without damage (and this is enough for people who want to use it in the pool), while the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 and Honor Band 5 can dive to 50 meters deep. Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is very elegant, but Honor Band 5 and Realme Band are more compact.

The Mi Band 5 is bigger because it has a wider display with a diagonal of 1,1 inches. And it is also the most attractive because of its quality and very interesting software features that allow users to use all its features.

Software and Features

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 has the largest number of sports modes: it can control up to 11 different types of sports activities.

On the other hand, Honor Band 5 offers 10 sports modes, but unlike the Mi Band 5, it is equipped with a SpO2 sensor to monitor the level of oxygen in the blood. The Realme Band also does not have a SpO2 sensor. Mi Band 5 has a very accurate PPG sensor: unfortunately, we still have not tested it, but we think that it is probably the most accurate, since Xiaomi says it offers 50% more accuracy compared to Mi Band 4.

Mi Band 5 also supports animated dials and third-party designs that cannot be obtained for its two opponents. In addition to the SpO2 sensor (only for Honor Band 5), you can find an accelerometer, heart rate monitor, barometer and gyroscope on these intelligent features. There are Mi Band 5 and Honor Band 5 options with an NFC connection, while you do not get it with the Realme Band.

Battery

Despite the fact that Xiaomi Mi Band 5 and Honor Band 5 provide more features than Realme Band batteries, they last longer: up to 14 days without recharging. The battery life of the Realme Band is 9 days, but it gives an important advantage: it does not need an external charger, since it includes a USB-A connector, which can be directly connected to the USB-A port.

On the other hand, Mi Band 5 supports magnetic charging thanks to the panel located on the back side: you do not even need to remove the bracelet from the strap to charge it. But for this you need a custom charger (included in the kit, of course).

Price

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 costs $ 26 in the basic version without NFC and $ 30 in the NFC version. It has just appeared in the Chinese market where it will be available for purchase starting June 18th. We still do not know what the price of the Mi Band 5 will be for the world market.

The price of Honor Band 5 is $ 28, and the Realme Band is only 12 euros. If you do not need a SpO2 sensor, we recommend Xiaomi Mi Band 5. But if you want to save money and you only need the basic functions, the Realme Band is enough, because it has accurate measurements and does not have common functions.
