Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro review: an excellent smartphone with a 108 MP camera

Just the other day I received a very interesting package from Xiaomi. In which I discovered a new model of a mid-budget device called Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro.

I note right away that I did not buy this smartphone, but they sent me for a test. Therefore, this instance is most likely a test one, and, perhaps, I will see many flaws in the process of using it. But if so, let's find out in my detailed and complete review below.

In addition to this model, the manufacturer Xiaomi has also introduced many other different smartphone models, and I can call them the younger version of Redmi Note 10, Redmi AirDots 3 and other devices.

In terms of cost, they are now asking about $ 290 for the Pro model. This is a rather high price and you shouldn't rush to buy a smartphone. But from March 8, auction offers will be in effect, and you will be able to purchase and order a smartphone for only $ 225.

For a relatively low cost, you get a smartphone that definitely deserves your attention, and let's take a look at the main features. The first thing that makes the device stand out is the large 6,67-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Also, the device uses a similar processor as on the Poco X3 smartphone - Snapdragon 732G.

Other features include a 108MP sensor, the latest generation of Android 11, a large 5030mAh battery with 33W fast charging. Naturally on board there is stereo sound and protection against splashes and dust according to the IP53 standard.

Based on the aforementioned specs, I can conclude that Redmi Note 10 Pro is an improved version of Poco X3 in some features. So let's find out if it is worth buying the new Redmi model if you already own the Poco X3?

Unpacking and packaging

My review got the standard box of the new smartphone model Redmi Note 10 Pro, both in size and weight. The packaging is made of durable white cardboard, and on the front there is a drawing of the smartphone itself with the model name.

On the side of the package, you can find a sticker with product and company information, as well as the version of the memory modification. As you can see, I have a version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You can also order a version with 6 and 64 GB or 8 and 256 GB of memory.

The first thing that met me inside the package was a small box with a protective matte silicone case, documentation and a needle for the SIM card tray. Then I found the device itself in a transport film and with basic characteristics.

Finally, the kit includes a Type-C charging cable and a 33W charging adapter. Okay, now let's look at the device itself and find out what it is made of and how high quality it is.

Design, build quality and materials

In terms of the materials used, I was a little surprised that the company used protective glass, both on the front and back of the device. But it's worth noting that the frames of the Redmi Note 10 Pro are made of plastic. Although, this is to be expected from a mid-budget device.

The manufacturer offers a choice of three colors - gray, bronze and blue. Each color option is very interesting, as it has its own uniqueness. I have a gray color on my test, and it looks more premium and strict than the rest of the options. I can also note here that fingerprints are very easy to leave on the back of the device, since it is glossy glass.

I have no comments on the quality of execution. The device from Xiaomi is well made and without any special complaints. In addition, the Redmi Note 10 Pro has IP53 dust and splash protection. But you cannot wet or immerse your smartphone in water.

As for the dimensions and weight, the new model of the device received dimensions of 164 × 76,5 × 8,1 mm, and the weight was about 193 grams. If we compare these indicators with competitors, then the Poco X3 model has 165,3 × 76,8 × 10,1 mm and a weight of 225 grams, and the younger brother of Redmi Note 9 Pro - 165,8 × 76,7 × 8,8 mm and 209 grams. Therefore, relative to analogues, the new device from the Redmi brand has become slightly smaller both in size and in weight.

Well, on the back is the main camera with four modules. Where the main 108MP sensor is very easy to spot as it is the largest in size. The design of the main camera is quite interesting and pretty.

Even some may think that you have a real flagship and not a mid-range device. But there is a small drawback - the main camera sticks out quite a lot. I don't think you would use a smartphone without a silicone case.

The right side of the Redmi Note 10 Pro smartphone received a power button with a built-in fingerprint scanner and a volume rocker. In addition, the fingerprint scanner itself works quickly and accurately, there were no problems with its use. Meanwhile, on the left side is a slot for two nano-SIM cards and a separate slot for a microSD memory card.

The bottom of the device has a main speaker, a Type-C port and a microphone hole. But on top they installed a 3,5 mm audio jack, an additional speaker, a microphone hole and even an infrared sensor. At the same time, the sound quality was with a good volume margin and even a little bass.

In general, I liked the look and assembly of the device. In addition, I was pleased with the glass case, as in a mid-budget phone. Ok, now let's take a look at the screen quality and its main features.

Screen and image quality

The front of the smartphone Redmi Note 10 Pro received a large 20: 9 screen measuring 6,67 inches. Along the way, the manufacturer likes the size of 6,67 inches, as it is used in almost every smartphone in the line of devices from Redmi or Xiaomi.

In terms of resolution, the smartphone uses Full HD or 1080 × 2400 pixels. Considering the size and resolution of the screen, the pixel density per inch was approximately 395 pixels per inch.

The most important feature in terms of screen quality was the presence of an AMOLED matrix. In terms of its class, it is difficult to find a smartphone with a price tag of $ 230 with an AMOLED screen. Therefore, the Redmi Note 10 Pro model has very bright and saturated colors, and the black color is very contrasting.

In addition, the manufacturer Redmi used a 120Hz screen refresh rate and HDR10 technology in the Note 10 Pro model. Also, the maximum brightness level was 1200 nits, and this figure is several times higher than that of its predecessor, the Note 9 Pro.

In addition, I liked that with each new generation, including a new model, the frames around the screen are getting smaller and smaller. But then again, they are not that small compared to flagship models, for example, Mi 11. There is also a round notch for a selfie camera at the top of the screen and the manufacturer simply calls this solution Dot-Display.

In the display settings, you can find a standard list of functions. For example, you can adjust not only the screen brightness value, but also select the desired hue, color, and more. You can also hide the round notch of the front camera in the settings, but after that you will have a large black bar at the top of the screen. Naturally, in the settings you can find the Alway-On Display function.

Performance, benchmarks, games and user interface

The new Redmi Note 10 Pro uses the already proven Snapdragon 732G processor. I already mentioned that this chipset has already been used on the Poco X3 model and I already have an idea of its performance.

Ok, let's tell you a little about what this processor is. It is an eight-core chipset with two Kryo 470 Gold cores clocked at 2,3 GHz and six Kryo 470 Silver cores clocked at 1,8 GHz.

The Snapdragon 732G processor is built on 8nm technology and performs well in performance tests. For example, in the AnTuTu test, the device scored about 290 thousand points, which is a good result for its price. I'll also leave an album below with other tests of the new Note 10 Pro smartphone.

In terms of gaming capabilities, the smartphone runs on the Adreno 618 graphics accelerator. I was able to run quite demanding games like Genshin Impact. In this case, the FPS value was in the range of 35-40 frames per second. In PUBG Mobile, I could only play at medium graphics settings, and the FPS was stable at 40 frames per second.

I also launched the game Dead Trigger 2 and here I managed to achieve 114 FPS. It's incredible that even on a mid-budget smartphone, you can play games very smoothly, almost like on a gaming device. In addition, after the games, I did not notice a strong overheating and the device warmed up to the operating temperature of the processor of about 60 degrees.

As I said, I have a version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You also have the option to expand your storage thanks to a separate microSD slot up to 512GB.

When it comes to wireless connectivity, the Redmi Note 10 Pro isn't all that bad. For example, the device uses a dual-band Wi-Fi module, Bluetooth 5.1 version, fast operation of the GPS module. The most important feature of a smartphone is the presence of an NFC module for contactless payment of your purchases.

The last thing I want to share with you in this section is my emotions from the user interface. The Redmi Note 10 Pro device runs the new Android 11 operating system with a custom MIUI 12 interface.

The interface works pretty quickly and quickly opens any applications or tasks. During use, I did not find strong freezes and delays, each operation was performed quickly.

I can refer to the new features - these are separate application windows. For example, you can choose not to minimize applications, but use a smaller application window anywhere on the screen. This principle works in the same way as in Windows 10. Other functions remain the same, for example, the choice of a black theme, various widgets, etc.

Camera and sample photos

The back of the Redmi Note 10 Pro smartphone has received four camera modules. The main sensor surprised me a lot, since the 108-megapixel sensor cannot be found even in the mid-budget segment. At the same time, I really liked the quality of the photos, you can find examples of images in the album below.

The second camera module received an 8-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f / 2.2 and a viewing angle of 118 degrees. This sensor has been designed for ultra wide mode. The third sensor has a 5MP camera for macro mode. And the last sensor received a 2-megapixel resolution and is designed for portrait mode.

On the front, there is a selfie camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels and an aperture of f / 2,5. I also leave the quality of the photo in the album below.

In the app's settings, you can find a large number of different shooting modes, from automatic to manual settings. There is also an interesting function of simultaneous video recording on both the front and main cameras. As for video shooting, the main camera shoots at 4K and 30 frames per second, and the front camera is 1080p and also 30 frames per second.

Battery and running time

The capacity of the built-in battery in the new Redmi Note 10 Pro remains completely identical to its predecessor, the Redmi Note 9 Pro. It's a 5020mAh battery, and as I have noticed, the battery life has improved slightly compared to its big brother.

During my active use, the device was discharged in about 1,5 days. But at the same time, I did various performance tests, played heavy games, and ran various camera tests. Therefore, if you use your smartphone in normal mode, then it can safely work for two working days without recharging.

Full recharging time from the 33W AC adapter took about 1 hour and 10 minutes. It is worth noting that the device was 55% charged in half an hour, and this is a very good result.

Conclusion, reviews, pros and cons

After fully testing and reviewing the new smartphone model Redmi Note 10 Pro, I was left under very positive emotions. This is the perfect new smartphone that not only has a great modern design, but also good performance and a decent camera.

Ok, let me tell you about the main benefits of the new smartphone from the Redmi brand. The first thing I liked was the materials used and the build quality. Also, I can't get past the very high quality AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 732G processor performs well not only in performance tests, but also in everyday life such as gaming. Another positive point that I can highlight is the high-quality 108 megapixel camera.

I will also refer to the disadvantages - this is a rather convex module of the main camera and a dirty case on the back of the device. I cannot single out any other strong drawbacks, since the cost of the model covers any drawbacks.

Price and where to buy cheaper Redmi Note 10 Pro?

I can definitely recommend the new mid-budget smartphone model for purchase, as it received very good specs at a relatively low price.

You can currently get the Redmi Note 10 Pro at an attractive price point for just $ 224,99 with a good discount. But the price won't be as high as this is a pre-sale that starts on March 8th and ends on March 10th.
