As a Twitter user pointed out (via xda developers), LG has detailed what will happen with software updates after the shutdown of the smartphone business. On the FAQ support page it says it will continue to deploy the update Android 11as intended.

If you remember, the company recently published a European deployment plan. The list of devices to which it is provided includes LG Velvet 5G, LG G8X, LG G8S, Lg wing other. Among them, the stable Android 11 update has already been released for V60 ThinQ, Velvet 5G devices.

On the support page, the South Korean giant says it will also release an OS Android 12 for some models.

He didn't actually mention the list of devices on the page, and information about it shouldn't appear at least until Google's official announcement of Android 12. By the way, Google has already released a Developer Preview of Android 12 and a stable version could be released this fall (maybe in September).

Additionally, LG also disclaims responsibility that the update schedule, i.e. time frame, may vary from country to country, and this policy may change in the future. This suggests that if a company faces a major development hurdle, it could also bring down the shutters on the entire deployment plan.

In announcing its exit from the smartphone business, LG said it will move forward and focus on areas such as electric vehicle components, smart homes, robotics, artificial intelligence and others.

Let's hope the company takes the time to update the software and deliver them as planned.
