Samsung plans to launch two foldable devices "Z Flip" and "Z Fold" each in 2021: report

Samsung has been leading the foldable smartphone market from the very beginning. Despite sluggish demand, the company reportedly still sells its Z and Fold smartphones well. Its Galaxy Z Flip has already sold well enough to support the company's hopes. All of this likely prompted Samsung to expand the lineup as it plans to launch four foldable devices next year.

According to Korean media report Samsung plans to release two Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip2 models in 2021. Following the tentative naming scheme, the Fold3 and Flip2 should follow the 2 Fold2020 and Flip, respectively. The report mentions that all models will support 5G connectivity.

Back in 2019, Samsung ventured into the foldable smartphone segment with the Galaxy Fold. However, the company didn't have the fortune to succeed on its first try. Early adopters faced a lot of problems, which forced the company to literally relaunch it later that year. Rising like a phoenix, the company entered the clamshell smartphone segment earlier this year with Galaxy z flip and successfully presented the second Fold ( ZFold2 ] ) lately.

In the Galaxy Z Flip, almost all of the flags left in the earlier foldable version were checked. While both devices are in different segments together, Samsung has proven to the world that it can finally create a better product that is also commercially viable. Reports already predict the Z Flip will become the top-selling folding model in 2020. And if the latest report is correct, Samsung will seriously consider the matter next year.

Accordingly, the report says the Z Flip2 will come in a versatile and high-quality model. In fact, it says that both devices, despite 5G support, will differ in characteristics, functions. It is too early to comment on whether one of them will be some kind of Z Flip Lite, and therefore, let's play a wait and see game.

In any case, it looks like Samsung wants to expand the scope of foldable devices and recapture an already conquered global market (including China) in 2021. However, according to the report, Samsung Electronics will only start producing the following foldable products by August 2021 and will launch in the second half of the year (second half). This not only refutes a report released earlier in June 2021, but suggests that Samsung is revising its strategy, positioning the S-series for the H1 and stacking it up in the next half.
