Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), using a new security patch on the latest iOS 14, it revealed the number of smartphone apps that read the contents of the user's clipboard when they are on the screen. The popular TikTok video sharing app is among the apps that practice it.
A popular video sharing application had previously fallen into this act, but in March TikTok told Telegraph that the practice would be discontinued in a few weeks. Apparently this did not happen, the new iOS14 feature, which alerts users when the application tries to access the clipboard, detects that it is still doing. Other apps that also have access to user clipboards include Overstock, Accuweather, AliExpress, Patreon, Call of Duty Mobile, and Google News.
The representative of TikTok explained that the culprit is a function in the application designed to detect repetitive and spam behavior. He also said that a new update has been added to the Apple app store that removes the anti-spam feature that accesses the clipboard. However, it was not indicated when the update will be available on Android devices.
