Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 smashed by Dimensity 9000 on Geekbench

It's been a long road for MediaTek from decline with the unannounced Helio X30 to a return to glory with Dimensity chips. A few years ago, the Taiwanese firm had problems with chipsets that lost to Qualcomm in every aspect. The company decided to step back and rethink its strategy. In 2020, the Taiwanese firm introduced robust 5G chipsets, proving that the technology can be cheaper than what Qualcomm and its partners are doing. Last year, the company introduced the Dimensity 1200, which proved to be a worthy alternative for many companies that produce cost-effective flagship devices. The company conquered the smartphone segment and decided to rise higher in 2022. A few years later, MediaTek returned to the true flagship segment with the Dimensity 9000 SoC. This chipset is likely to be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 biggest competitor in 2022.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was beaten by its main competitor in 2022

The Dimensity 9000 SoC arrives with the same specs as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Samsung's flagship Exynos 2200 SoC. All three chipsets come with ARMv9 cores and are based on the same 4nm architecture, but manufacturers differ. These are Samsung for Exynos and Snapdragon and TSMC for Dimensity. All three chips are now official and it's natural to see the first comparisons and benchmarks. Today for Ice Universe comes new bit , and this is quite surprising. According to the analyst, Dimensity 9000 could be the new king of processors in the Android market.

Tipster shared on Twitter some Geekbench 5 results showing Dimensity 9000. The MediaTek chip clearly outperforms Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 in both multi-core and single-core areas. If you've been following the benchmark scene, you probably know that similar results have been seen on AnTuTu. However, it's worth noting that the Dimensity 9000 and Exynos 2200 results are likely from unfinished products. After all, these chipsets, although announced, have not actually "entered" the market yet.
