Google is working on Project Wolverine to improve hearing.

Google currently has two of its own wearables, the Pixel Buds and the Glass Enterprise Edition, excluding the Fitbit lineup. A new leak reveals a device from the company that allows the user to isolate sound to focus on a specific person or source.

According to reportThe X Moonshot Factory, a subsidiary of Google, Alphabet is working on a new wearable device, codenamed "Wolverine". The product is reportedly focused on improving the hearing of users.

The project has reportedly been in development since 2018 and allows users to "focus on one particular speaker in a group with overlapping conversations." This is achieved with an in-ear device that is "packed with sensors" and microphones.

The device has other capabilities besides speech isolation, and the development team is actively working to expand its capabilities. However, other applications of this new project have not been described by the team.

It looks like Project Wolverine won't be limited to a simple device or app, but the company plans to turn it into a business model. The head of Alphabet X Astro Teller and co-founder of Google Sergey Brin received the first demos. Given that the project is in its infancy and similar to other similar projects from Google, it too could be delayed if the company doesn't come up with a viable business plan.
